Microsoft Publisher will no longer be supported after October 2026

At Microsoft, we are dedicated to providing our customers with the tools they need to achieve what matters, in their work and life. In order to focus on new benefits, we occasionally remove features and products.

In October 2026, Microsoft Publisher will reach its end of life. After that time, it will no longer be included in Microsoft 365 and existing on-premises suites will no longer be supported. Microsoft 365 subscribers will no longer be able to open or edit Publisher files in Publisher. Until then, support for Publisher will continue and users can expect the same experience as today.

Many common Publisher scenarios—including creating professionally branded templates, printing envelopes and labels, and producing customized calendars, business cards, and programs—are already available in other Microsoft 365 apps such as Word and PowerPoint. For recommendations on where to start common Publisher scenarios, see below. You can also find a wide array of customizable templates at Microsoft Create.

Yes, it's being removed in October 2026. Would assume the only way to continually use it would be to have the non 365 subscription version. There is no recent standalone version.

The last office version to incorporate it is Office 2021 which also reaches EOL in Oct 2026. You can get good cheap licenses for Office 2021 which seem to work perfectly so presumably legitimate. Unless you need allthe bells and whistles of the subscription based Office / 365 then Office 2021 is fine -- most of the EXCEL improvements in Office /365 you can "replicate" in EXCEL 2021 although a bit harder - and you really need to be a power user to benefit from those features.

Office LTSC 2024 is continuing for a few more years (no Publisher though) but is only "officially " available via corporate / enterprise contracts - but according to some there will be one more future retail stand alone version of office -- although no Publisher.

I've always used Publisher, and I'll continue to use it, even if Microsoft no longer supports it...
I recommend everyone get a separate version of Publisher, such as Publisher 2024.

Where do you get publisher 2024 from

I'm running Office LTSC 2024 and there is NO publisher included in that version. There also is NO stand alone version of Publisher 2024.

Simply GOOGLE please before making a suggestion that doesn't exist.

There is no Microsoft Publisher 2024. While a new version of Microsoft Office, Office 2024, was released in 2024, Publisher is not included in this version due to its impending discontinuation. Microsoft plans to end support for Publisher on October 13, 2026, after which it will be removed from Microsoft 365 plans and its existing on-premises installations will no longer be supported.

You might be able to find a method to run Publisher 2021 (or earlier version) alongside Office 2024 but running concurrently different versions of Office isn't that easy - even if possible. I did it once long ago with Office 2003 and Office 2007 but that "fix" has long eluded "my little grey cells".

I'm running a Standalone Microsoft Publisher 2021 LTSC and Microsoft 365 (Family & Personal) without Access, OneDrive, OneNote or Publisher

So far so good but I will have to wait until October 2026 to see if Standalone Publisher 2021 still works, I hope so to keep the wife happy. :rolleyes:
