Microsoft Translator

Does this translate realtime voice to the other mobile phone? I have seen this type of software demonstrated on the BBC progrma 'Click'

I don’t think so, it’s text based as far as I know. You could talk into it and it will translate your voice to text in another language (I believe) but it wont verbally translate from voice 1 language to voice 2 language verbally/real time. Having said that, there is no reason why voice two couldn’t just use text to speech.

I may be wrong. But It’s technical and confusing and I haven’t seen one real time demonstration.

If you’re interested: What I have learned.

- You can type or use a verbal input to have Microsoft Translator convert your input to another language. You can also take a picture of text which will then be translated and sent to the receiver/s converted into their own language.

In regards to spoken language — The receiver (or sender) can press a readily accessible button on the screen that sits under the sent or received message translation, which will verbally read the message you received, using your own language.
So technically, it does “translate realtime voice to the other mobile phone” Just not instantly without user interaction with the button mentioned (Speaker icon) Still, pretty cool.



There are actually some pretty neat uses for this software. BUT… at a cost. There are conflicting results when searching on whether Translator is free for personal use:
