Modern Windows 11 Laptop won't respond.

After not being used for a few months my laptop was started. Security and other apps updated then it needed to restart to update Windows.
Screen went black and it continued to run with the black screen.
After a few minutes I tried the 'Off' button....it continued to run.
I tried..... Ctrl/Alt/Delete....no response.

It is now running until the battery empties.....any help please?

You tried forcing a hard shutdown? Press and hold the power button down continuously for 15 to 30 seconds until the screen turns black and the power light goes off. Wait 30 sec before restarting.

When I once experienced that on a laptop I disconnected external power then pressed the off button again and it obeyed me that time.
