I had stepped away from the computer for a second, and I came back to a black screen saying, "Your PC ran into a problem. We need to restart." And below what it said, it had a 0% there but it was not restarting. I had to manually restart it.

All I have really done to it, is debloat it, update it, clean it up, and I installed a fresh new copy of the latest Intel Graphics driver from Intel. I just got it in for my mom yesterday.

Was an upgrade or install recently performed?

Please perform the following steps:

1) Add WMIC:

DISM /Online /Add-Capability /CapabilityName:WMIC~~~~

2) Run Tuneup plus > post a share link

3) The BIOS Version/Date AMI F.48, 7/27/2022

Upgrade the BIOS: F.48 > F.51 Rev.A

4) Turn off Windows fast startup:

5) Download and install: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI – v10.8.4.0

6) Enable regback:

7) Create a new restore point:

8) Plan to run the HP UEFI hardware diagnostics overnight while sleeping

9) Power on the computer and repetitively click F2 > overnight run the HP UEFI hardware diagnostics > system > extensive > loop until error > in the AM if there have been at least 2 loops > click esc > run any component tests as needed > take pictures with a camera or smartphone camera > post images or share links displaying the tests performed with results

10) If the HP UEFI hardware diagnostics extensive testing reports pass then plan to run Windows Driver Verifier (WDV):

11) Read this link on Windows Driver Verifier (WDV):

Enable and Disable Driver Verifier in Windows 10

12) Create a new restore point

13) Learn the methods to recover from BSOD caused by WDV by booting into safe mode and running one or more of these commands:

verifier /reset

verifier /bootmode resetonbootfail

(option nine and seven)

14) Plan to run the tool with various customized test settings.

a) Test all non-Microsoft drivers

b) Test no Microsoft drivers

c) For the first run of WDV select the 3 customized tests displayed in the TF tutorial

15) Whenever the WDV tool is started if there is no immediate BSOD then open administrative command prompt and copy and paste:

verifier /querysettings

Post a share link.

Customized tests will then be posted for the next run of WDV.

WDV can run continuously during the testing.

For any BSOD post a new V2 share link into the newest post.

16) After BSOD troubleshooting has completed consider upgrading secure boot:

@zbook, I don't think those events are the cause of his BSOD. I believe those TPM-WMI errors in event viewer are common (and expected) on devices with secure boot off. None of my machines have secure boot enabled and I get TPM-WMI error events several time a week. I do not get any BSOD.

Hi @zbook: So I performed the bios update. I did swap in an HP monitor that I ordered from the other day that came in today. I took out the DELL monitor since her old computer was a DELL. However, now there is something wrong with the graphics as the screen is all enlarged. It already had Windows 11 installed out of the box, but I believe a feature update to Windows 11 was installed during setup.

Secure boot was not related to the BSOD.

It is a step that has an important June date.

It was a courtesy notification.

HP does not support Windows 11 drivers for this computer model but it reported a new install.

Steps 4 - 10 are next.

The computer is now optimally configured so that it is less likely to miss BSOD.

"All I have really done to it, is debloat it, update it, clean it up, and I installed a fresh new copy of the latest Intel Graphics drive".

That is actually quite a lot of things. I am guessing you did not make an image backup before you started tinkering?

Personally, I would do a "reset my pc" and if possible even put back to factory state if there is a vendor recoverey partition.

That is actually quite a lot of things. I am guessing you did not make an image backup before you started tinkering?
Sadly, it's a sermon we've preached many times that no one seems to listen to.

I am confused whether or not this user actually has a problem. Did it happen only once and was cleared by a restart or is it a recurring problem? I learned a long time ago not to jump the gun too soon when Windows develops an occassional bout of flatulance.

I reset Windows 11 and it is running better. However, when the computer starts to enter sleep mode while the computer is idle (just monitor is sleeping at this time), it makes a beeping noise which sounds like a driver or display driver beep noise.

@cereberus, I have tried that by downloading and running the HP Cloud Recovery Tool. The tool doesn't ever acknowledge the Product ID number.

Right click on the desktop then click on Display settings. Check to see if the settings are correct for the monitor your mom is using.

.... installed a fresh new copy of the latest Intel Graphics driver from Intel.

I would not do this with a new computer. Don't go out to the web even to Intel and try to fix things that aren't broken. I've probably set up 25-30 Win11 computers for customers so far this year and have not gotton a blue screen once. I don't recall getting one with a new computer at least the past year.

Here's what I do. After a new computer is set up, go to Windows updates to get it caught up with NON-DRIVER updates. Then with an HP, open the already installed HP Support Assistant to check for hardware updates. One of them might be the BIOS. Do it first and do it alone without doing any other HP-recommended driver updates. When it finally restarts and Windows has loaded (hopefully), open HP Support Assistant and finish up with the drivers. HP Support Assistant is far preferable than going to HP's website and picking what we might believe is an updated driver that is actualy beneficial and needed.

Restart, and then go back to Windows Updates and recheck for updates. Generally don't install Windows "preview" updates. Once caught up with regular updates, you can look at the drivers section in Updates>Advanced Options>Optional Updates>Driver Updates. Use your spidey sense here. If everything is OK, why risk an "optional" hardware driver update that Microsoft says is available? If there's no issue, just use your computer and fight the urge to monkey with drivers. I have a Lenovo System Driver Update that's been sitting in Optional Updates for a year. I'm not installing it. Why should I? My laptop is running perfectly and I'm not taking a chance because Microsoft has it in the Optional Driver list.

So yes... you may be learning a lesson and may need to reset/reinstall to correct this issue.

I use this laptop mainly from my recliner. It's purpose is scheduling computer and TV services, closing TV work orders, remote customer support, research and recreation.

Printers in the office room on my main floor were both acquired from business customers who upgraded equipment, had me handle the upgrade and then haul away the replaced hardware. I have not purchased a printer for myself in 15 years.

Main: HP LaserJet P3010 (black & white, hardwired, networked)
Aux: HP Color LaserJet MFP M281fdw (color laser, fax, hardwired, networked)

Internet in my house is routed through a TP-Link AC3200 with radios disabled. Wireless access points are two (2) strategically-located UniFi UAP-AC-PRO ceiling units which cover my whole house including basement and front/back yards. Netgear gigabit switches and CAT6 cabling are used for wired purposes.

This computer was acquired from a customer who cleaned out her office. I upgraded it and now use it in my downstairs computer-repair office.

My home office printer is an old HP LaserJet 3015. I acquired this after a customer passed away and his wife sold their house and downsized. She gave me all his equipment. I still help her with her tech issues.

@Winuser: It is connected via a VGA cable. I looked at the display settings, and everything is set to recommended.

@Winuser: It is connected via a VGA cable. I looked at the display settings, and everything is set to recommended.
What is the native resolution of the display? Windows tells me on my 4K display that 300% scaling is recommended... which of course makes the display too large.
