Solved Money Sunset with Win 11

My computer automatically upgraded to Win 11. After that I downloaded Money from the microsoft website, it saved it to the computer documents file.
It ran beautifully and I spent 2 hours loading transactions. However when I wanted to close, the automatic backup locked the computer and I had to use Task Manager to close it down. It did save the data but again would not close on it's own
Could there be some conflict with Win 11?

I know Money required Internet Explorer to work. Although IE still exists in program files and start menu, when one tries to open it, Edge now opens instead. I'll bet a dollar to a donut this has something to do with why you are experiencing problems with Sunset. MS does have plans to remove all IE11 "visual references," in a Windows security update scheduled for June 2023. I believe this applies to both Win10 and Win11.

I suggest you begin seeking an alternative. Quicken might be a viable option for you.

Quicken has become a subscription program. Which is not desirable to many.
There are a couple of open-source programs available.

Thank you. Quicken is not available for use outside US. A fact that took them a long time to tell me!

I'm using Sunset Deluxe without issue. Been using some version of Money since the 90's I think.

hi. have been using microsoft money ages back. and want to restart using same, given that this is so practical and easy to use. am using windows 11 now, can i still use microsoft money, starting anew from scratch, will it work. if so, which version would you recommend me

I am running Money 99 on Win 11 with no issues. Loaded from original CD. Still the best home finance programme in my opinion.

I have no problems using the last issued UK version which was MS Money 2005. The installation file is Money2005-UK-QFE2.exe. I don't believe IE 11 is required to run Money. This Google support group is useful

I also have been a long time (20+ years) user and advocate of MS Money. I looked high and low for a suitable replacement when migrating from Windows 7 to 10, but as many others, I found no suitable substitute. Downloaded, installed and have been successfully using the MS Money Plus Deluxe Sunset version on an ASUS All-in-One PC running Window 10 Home for the past 12 years. Recently upgraded to a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 11 and, using the EaseUS ToDo PCTrans program, transferred all my apps, files, and setting to the new laptop. However, when opening MS Money, I got the following notification:
"Before you can use Money on this computer, you must run the Setup program on the Money CD or in the directory where the Money files were copied."
Not being able to locate the Setup program, I've uninstalled MSMoney, re-executed the previously saved MS Money Plus Deluxe Sunset exe file, downloaded a new executable file from a reputable site, run the installed MS Money using the Windows 11 compatibility program, and retransferred the app from the old ASUS PC to the new Lenovo laptop. All efforts installed without incident and indicated that the installation was successful and complete. But in each case, when opening the newly installed MS Money program, received the exact same notification: run the setup program. At my wits end, would desperately like to get MS Money running again, appreciate any help this Forum may provide.

The only banking I do on my PC, is to occasionally check my balance. :-)
For those that do handle their banking on their PC... at least it's safer than doing it on a smart phone. ^^

My computer automatically upgraded to Win 11. After that I downloaded Money from the microsoft website, it saved it to the computer documents file.
It ran beautifully and I spent 2 hours loading transactions. However when I wanted to close, the automatic backup locked the computer and I had to use Task Manager to close it down. It did save the data but again would not close on it's own

I can't help with your problem, since I don't use MS Money.

Just to let you know that my son-in-law uses Microsoft Money with Windows 11.
