OS
Windows 11
Once you get to the Ubuntu prompt ($) and have your username and password, more possibilities exist. The first is adding synaptic using sudo apt install. Once synaptic is loaded, you can see what is available in terms of application program and versions. The Ubuntu build is 24.04, which is a long-term release and no need to update.

Two problems: 1) as long as I stay with just Evolution, the system is stable. As soon as I add something else, (e.g., Firefox), it becomes unstable); not a problem as Firefox already running under Win 11; 2) there appears to be no way to get external documents to Ubuntu unless you bring them in as attachments to an email.

Thank you very much. That is correct. I was able to get SSD partitioned and formatted to exFAT with AOMEI tool.
