Solved Mouse cursor has disappeared

Been using my PC all day, no problems. Then suddenly 20 minutes ago the cursor disappears 🤷 No idea what caused it maybe I accidentally pressed a weird combination of buttons... dunno.

I followed a Youtube tutorial that recommended I uninstall the mouse in the device manager and reboot. No change.

Got a ton of work to do so if someone could help get this sorted I'd be very grateful.

I’m curious, if you right click on your desktop does the context menu show even though you can’t see the cursor?

It did. Then I did the device manager thing and now it doesn't.

I assume you would of rebooted?

Since you removed the mouse in device manager, have you checked for windows updates and then looked in:
Windows Update > advanced options > optional updates and looked for any relatable optional updates?

And do you use Logitech software with the MX?

Yes I have rebooted a few times.

The Logitech app says both mouse and keyboard are connected. Keyboard works, mouse doesn't.

Specifically what updates do I need to look out for? This has been working fine for almost a year, then suddenly the cursor is gone? How?

Is it Wi-Fi or Bluetooth? I have had my Logitech Wi-Fi mice stop working on my computers. Usually I just need to unplug then plugin the USB Dongle. There have also been times that the batteries needed to be replaced. Another possibility is that another source is interfering with the Wi-Fi signal. Are there any new devices close to your computer?

Just anything that says mouse.

However reinstalling the Logitech software or checking for a new version might have the same affect as the software should contain mouse drives, I can only assume.

Some things to check

  • If it’s wireless, check the battery
  • If it’s corded, check another USB port
  • Try it on another PC if you’re able
  • Try a different mouse in your PC if you’re able

Another thought just hit me, It's possible the mouse died. Do you have another mouse you can try or another device you can try the mouse on?

Open control panel, open mouse, check for any settings that may not seem right

- Scrolling with the wheel works.
- Left and right mouse buttons work but are the other way round.
- Cursor ist still not visible.

So I doubt it’s the mouse then but can’t rule it out. Check the latest Logi software, reinstall.

Try pressing the F (function) keys one at a time and moving the mouse after each key press to see if any have an obscure affect on the cursor.
The reversed mouse buttons don’t sound great though

FIXED.

Turns out the thumb button gets stuck (known issue... there's a Youtube video) and I had to open it up, loosen two screws, problem sorted. All is as it should be.
