MS Authenticator app for passkeys?

As we know, only enterprise environments can let users enroll or to create passkey from the MS Authenticator app using Entra ID.

But when will this be available as a feature for consumers that have a Outlook.com account?

I’m guessing only Microsoft could answer that. But I doubt I’d ever use Passkeys.

If Authenticator and Outlook are setup correctly, all I need to do is enter my username (Done by 1Password) and press next. Outlook.com presents the following screen:




At the same time, Outlook.com sends a message to my MS Authenticator app and all I have to do is click on the corresponding number.

I am then automatically logged in and the browser sends me to my account without any further action, using the secure access with MS Authenticator.

I’ll admit, I haven’t ever used Passkeys so I don’t know how it could be easier, maybe it is? But I doubt that it would be and I doubt that it’s any more secure.

And to mention, I have 7 or 8 Microsoft Accounts that I need to navigate on my PC, so I doubt Passkeys would be suitable for me.

Passkeys will never be fully adopted even for decades....
