Hi,

Recently all of our Microsoft Miracast HDMI adapters no longer work as we can no longer cast either Windows 10 or Windows 11 onto them. We have three of these devices and when I try to connect I can see it go through the motions and fail with a 'try again later' message on the TV I am trying to cast onto. Not sure if its a Windows
Update that changed something or wifi interference but it no longer works at all. Not sure why.

Steps I have tried: Reinstall video drivers and wifi adapter using the 'have disk' generic drivers. Nothing works.

Just wanted to update this thread with more details. Was able to connect to the MS Miracast dongle using my laptop however nothing worked on my work machine including videocard driver update and wifi driver installation. So I took the Miracast Dongle home and took the Usb wifi adapters home as well and tested them on my home machine and was able to connect no problem. So obviously its a problem with Windows. Not sure why. Maybe wifi interference but then my laptop wouldn't work. So I think its the computers I have at work. All three of them refusing. Maybe its the antivirus is my next guess. Will have to uninstall my AV software and try again.

VPN would also prevent connection.

Turns out it was the firewall blocking the connection to the MS Miracast dongle. Didn't matter if was running Eset or Bitdefender but disabling firewall fixed the issue. Now I need to figure out how to manually enter exceptions in the firewall rules which I have to admit is not my strong suit. I tried for an hour and couldn't figure it out. Thanks.

Which one are you technically going to use? ESET or Bitdefender? I stopped using Bitdefenders software for about a year or so now, because it was blocking everything, and to continually have to manually go in and dig 20 settings deep etc was a No thanks.
Heres for Bitdefender to create exceptions.....

and for ESET...
