Solved MS Off 2016 vs. 2019?


Excel from Office 2021 have some useful improvements comparing to older versions, like much better version of function VLOOKUP - XLOOKUP

I have Office 2013 because it's still supported and works quite good in Windows 11 too. From the point of look, it's quite monotonous, but this doesn't negatively impact its functionality. Will use it until the end of support in the next year.

As for next version, I would prefer 2016 because it's, unfortunately, the last version with classic MSI installer, at least H&B (not H&S). I really don't like new click-to-run installer which doesn't easily allow to select the needed components. Again, Microsoft counts MSI outdated and no longer uses it at least for MS Office. Still don't know which version I will use after 2026...

I prefer the LibreOffice version, a fork from OpenOffice that was started when OpenOffice looked destined to die out. All the best developers moved over to working on LibreOffice and it seems to be better supported than OpenOffice these days.

I like the option in 2007 Home and Business to configure what to install.
32 bit I agree can run on a 64 bit machine, but less effective memory utilization and more page file....is my myth correct?

64 bit Office is only of any real advantage if you are working with massive datasets - 2GB or greater.

But where to download from..
The tech guy has loads of drivers for most Dell machines.

Their both the same. One is an .exe file the other is a zip file. Just download the .exe and run it.
