My Gran's gaming problem

Hi. I'm trying to fix my Nan's computer so she can more easily play Android games. Her pc is a W10 about 4 years old and she's been playing Cooking Fever through Bluestacks on it all that time. She gets really worried about it breaking down or the game not working properly so I thought I might build here a new pc with W11 I've read it has an built-in emulater for Android. Would that work better?

Other options to consider: Get her a Chromebook or Android tablet.

The android emulator is not mature enough to be that useful yet (opinions vary here).

Really the way to go is to be able to manage a failure.

If you make an image backup, you can recover fron a failure putting pc back to a known working state.

A good beginners tool is AOMEI Backupper which is free.

Get Gran an Android tablet which plays Android games natively.

Thank you for your advice but Nan is on a pension and I'm a student so we can't buy a laptop. I was just going to fix up her old computer and maybe upgrade it too 11.

I would not upgrade to w11 just yet. Whilst it is quite stable, it is still going through its early life development cycles.

Also, if laptop is not 100% compatible, doing upgrades can be more tricky.

Given your key concern is stabilty for your Gran's pc, I recommend you stay with Windows 10 for time being.

Windows 10 is very stable and no real reasons why you should run into issues. It is no longer being developed but will get security updates for about 2 more years. You can choose to move to W11 later.

As I said earlier, learn how to make backups so you can recover from any unexpected issues.

Also, you rather contradict yourself taking about building a new pc but not being able to afford to buy an android tablet (which are very cheap). I have to agree with @Haydon - buying an android tablet seems to be most sensible solution.

Thanks, but lol, when I said I'd build a new computer I meant a new old computer. I just buy used parts on eBay. But Gran's problem is more that she playing an Android game (Cooking Fever) on a PC, through a Bluestacks emu later, and the people who make the game (Nord Current?) keep telling her she's cheating, which can only be because she's not playing on an android divice. Thats why I asked about being able to play android games in W11. I thought it might be morestable and Nord wouldnt tell her she's cheating and be more supporteve if she ever lost her 9 yrs of history. I think the progress ect saves aren't kept on the computer but on the Nord server.

Never mind that Android emulation has come a long way - and especially in terms of Windows 11. I just bought a new-old (Dell Optiplex 9020 SFF) specifically for the same task. It is packing an i7 and vPro from the 8th generation - supposedly too old - yet even Microsoft admits works just fine! All it needs is a monitor/display - which need not be current.

Sounds to me your issue is more bluestacks related. Does ot support latest android versions. That could be a reason why it complains about cheating?

You could try the Windows System for Android but you would need to side load app (if you can source the apk file).
