Another awkward thing about Windows 11 are the narrow scrollbars.
Can they be made wider so that they are less awkward to grab?
The Windows 11 interface is all out of proportion. Some things are too big, and some are too small.

I fed this back on hub ages ago - W11 is not "disabled user" friendly - very poor ergonomics.

They were tight with sizes for the scrollbars, yet wasted heaps of space on the Taskbar and tray.
Notice all the unnecessary unused wasted space above, below and between the Taskbar and tray icons.

It's thin on sight.
But I noticed it grows to a thicker grey line upon hovering the mouse above it and much easier to grab on.

It's still too narrow, in my opinion. Why doesn't the scrollbar expand to the full width on hover?
Much narrower than on Windows 10.

They've tried to create some eye candy at the expense of functionality.

I see that. It seems that bigger screen would help a little.
I'm with 24" Samsung curved monitor but have +3.5 glasses when staring the screen so that I have no problem so far.

This is the Edge scrollbar. It hasn't been changed and is perfectly fine.
What would you say is less awkward and easier to use? :look:

Yeah, the inconsistency is breathtaking: it shows up in some places, but not others. Outlook now has it in very new builds, while it didn't before, for example. I'm very glad browsers haven't adopted it.

That there's apparently no way to opt out of this is unfortunate.

Windows 11 is a mess.

Without doubt, this is the worst Windows operating system that I have seen. And I go back to the Windows 3.1x days.
It is the only operating system that I have never updated to apart from my test machine. I even updated my computers to Windows 8.
But I won't be updating them to the Windows 11 mess. There is just too much to overcome. Why implement changes that make an operating system more difficult to use? Windows 11 makes no sense at all to me.

I din't check the exact reg entries shown in that tutorial, but it ought to be applicable in Windows 11 also(?). For eg. this is the result of changing the scroll bar settings using WinAero.
My current setting at size 17 and the maximum effect at size 100 in WinAero:
size17.jpgsize100.jpg

PS: The same Reg entries seem to be affected, so the tutorial ought to work as well.

The problem with the ScrollWidth setting is that it's already -255 in Win11, just like it is in Win10. I think we need one specifically for where the new-style scrollbars are used, since we have two different sets of scrollbars. One setting can't be working for both given that it's -255.

Hi,
I've just started using check boxes to select items seeing I use single click to open items & point to select so scroll bars well, I like them to show because if there are options lower on the page it's obvious but I don't use them for anything else so small scroll bars are just a small issue no pun intended lol

I think those thin scroll bars are designed to be used by fingers as in touch screens.

Hmmm, so this got me curious and I started playing with my scroll bars using winaero tweaker. If I set the file explorer scroll bars to a nice comfortable size then my Firefox and Thunderbird scroll bars were oversized. Believe someone here mentioned there were two sets of scroll bars so no matter what size I choose the start menu and settings scroll bars stay very narrow and I didn't see a setting for just those so I guess I'll stick with the default sizes.

Yeah - scrollbars are a total mishmash in W11. The most annoying ones are those in settings menus - difficult to grab - very poor design, and ones you cannot change!
