Narrow Scrollbars

Well, actually nothing.
So much for good advice.
Somewhere in the life of Win 10 it had these small or auto-hiding scrollbars and the setting that I wrote about took care of that.
It became an automatic thing every time I did a fresh install.
Likewise when I installed Win 11. And as it actually shows nice large scrollbars right now it looked like the way to go.
But after your question I turned it off and restarted Windows and lo and behold no change, still the large scrollbars.
So in my case, it does nothing.
Now why do others have skinny scrollbars?
Beats me!

As a p.s. to my previous reply,
I never use the scrollbars for scrolling, I mousewheel.
They are just a visual clue that there is something scrollable.

Just a point of interest, one of the new features of just released Firefox 97 is the new win 11 style scroll bars now.

Hmmm, I just updated to FF 97 and my scroll bars are still . . . oops, I'm in Windows 10. Never mind . . .

Heading over to the Windows 11 partition . . .

Edit: Yep, narrow scroll bars, but I'm like everyone else; I use my mouse wheel to scroll.

Yes, I am sure we all do use a mouse wheel to scroll at times, especially for small movements.

But what about a long paged website or a 30 page Word document or a big spreadsheet or very large text file that would tire your mouse wheel finger out?

I find that grabbing the scrollbars and dragging them up or down is a much quicker and more efficient way or getting to where I want to go.

Valid point, in that case I also go that route.

I've done the same when it's a very long tutorial or such. Especially if I want to copy it to Word or PDF.

I will say that Firefox doesn't make the scroll bar so skinny I can't get my mouse on it! So, I can live with it.

Thank you, all, for pointing out yet another fubar'd UI issue. I'll stick with W10 until the gnomes at Microsoft can remove their firmly planted heads from their nether regions.

Truly; it's amazing how much Microsoft wants to be Apple yet can't see how badly "cute" UI design works (or, rather, doesn't work).

I still have the wide scroll bar in Firefox 97.

Home, End, Page Up and Page Down still works in Win 11.
