Need Advice on dual Boot Win 11 Pro and Win 10 Pro Computer

I edited my previous post and added some images.

Did you manage to enable Firmware TPM? In other words, does the Dell XPS 8930 now meet the Windows 11 system requirements?

This Dell has an Intel CPU, so most likely you are looking for Intel PTT in Security settings of BIOS. That's the setting you have to enable to turn on TPM 2.0

If the option is grayed out, probably you have CSM Boot (Legacy BIOS mode) enabled. In some motherboards you have to switch to "UEFI only" boot mode (disable CSM) in order to use Secure Boot and TPM settings. I would also check if there is any UEFI firmware (aka BIOS) upgrade that could improve compatibility or enable TPM 2.0

ChatGPT: "If Windows is already booting in UEFI mode, you should not need to change RAID/AHCI or any other storage setting. Leave SATA Operation set to RAID On, disable Legacy Option ROM, save the change, and then check whether Firmware TPM becomes available."

Exactly. Like I said, some BIOS don't allow enabling TPM with CSM enabled. Some not even show the option until you select "UEFI only".

Yes. Leave SATA Operation = RAID On for now.

In the BIOS, disable Load Legacy Option ROM, save the changes, and then check whether Firmware TPM becomes available/enabled.

Load Legacy Option ROMAllows you to enable or disable the Legacy Option ROM.

The F12 one-time boot menu should then change from:

Boot mode is set to: UEFI with Legacy OPROM; Secure boot: OFF

to:

Boot mode is set to: UEFI; Secure boot: OFF

If you can make your games work in Windows 10, then surely they can also work on Windows 11 because they are similar. In fact both have full version numbers of 10.0.19xxx.xxxx for Windows 10 and 10.0.2xxxx.xxxx for Windows 11. Meaning Windows 11 is just another version of Windows 10 with a new skin and some new features. In fact Windows 11 26H2 is 10.0.26300.xxxx So if it can play on Windows 10/11 but you don't like the interface, there are utilities to make each one look like Windows 7. I have Windows 7 start button and start menu, Windows 7 system icons, user account pictures, wallpapers and screensavers. I even have Windows 7 gadgets and Windows Media Center. Old calculator, old Microsoft Paint, classic Notepad and the classic Windows games (Minesweeper, Solitaire, Mahjong Titans, Purple Place).
Without my veering too far off-topic, I retained a Win 7 desktop with a "decent" but limited Gfx card in to run some legacy flight sims with least amount of jiggering. Not all legacy flight sims are OK with Win 7, though and some sims require some "adjustment" to their internal parameters, as well as possibly some added "Wrapper" progs. IOW, most of these legacy games were intended for Win 95 or Win 98 and close clone OSs. Using Win 7 to play some legacy sims is required due to usually better CPU/RAM/Gfx card choices which are allowed by Win 7 and on up.

Anyway, back to O.T.

IIRC, when I tried to switch from RAID to AHCI, the computer refused to boot and I had to get some help.
There's nothing wrong with using RAID.

Yes, you can dual boot in RAID and you can easily use each OS the same as you would in AHCI. The advantage is that you can also have access to various RAID configurations. This is especially helpful with the preservation of archived data: family pictures, videos, important documents, etc. because RAID1 (mirroring) happens to be one of those options. Your operating system itself need NOT be on the RAID array if all you're doing is mirroring. The storage drives can be set to RAID1 apart from the OS but the operating system needs to "know" what mode the BIOS is in for it to work with RAID. In the case of "Soft Raid" these settings (as you know) are found in your UEFI/BIOS.

I may have said this before but it is highly advisable for each operating system to have its own drive. Partitions frequently fail and are easily corrupted. Why put all your eggs in one basket? Sometimes Windows will give you trouble with this but there is freeware available to deal with it such as Easy BCD should you experience any difficulty.

Thanks to all the folks posting in this thread trying to educate/help me. I recently got word that my car was, by expert opinion and my personal viewing, unsafe to drive due to structural rust. It's a 2005 Subaru Forester on which I spent considerable rust-repair money. Subaru engine has 110K miles on it, and overall, was a Great car in any kind of snow or mud. Time to cut my losses, and that's where my attention has been focused lately.

I'll definitely return to this thread in a few days, once things settle down.

In the meantime, still driving 1996 Honda Accord daily. Just went over 200K well-cared-for miles on the engine.

Enough of my personal hassles and diversion of my own thread; let's get back to Original topic, please.
