This is for my mother.

She uses the PC for the following:

  • Playing games such as Candy Crush and Microsoft Solitaire.
  • Watching videos.
  • Surfing the internet with up to 20 tabs open
  • Mail program.

Despite her minimal needs she wants the computer to be lighting fast with Windows booting and programs opening. Cost isn't a huge issue but at the same time she does not want to waste money. She wouldn't want to spend $200 more for a processor if it meant a program starting half a second faster.

I will be buying a custom made all-in-one from this site.

I was told for her needs that getting the i3 would actually be faster due to the higher clock speed.

Was thinking about getting 16 GB or RAM.

I am sold on the Intel SSD. She does not need the storage space but would the difference in the write speeds of the 512 and 2 TB speeds (1600 MB/S vs 2700 MB/S) make a big difference?

I've always felt an i5 is the sweet spot, but that's just me. IMO for her needs she would see no benefit of the 2tb m.2 if she doesn't need the storage. 16gb ram should be plenty. I would certainly make sure that the memory is expandable and not soldered to the mobo since the most all-in-one PCs use a laptop motherboard, memory, and cpu. Many laptop motherboards these days have the memory hardwired with no expandable slots, but some do not.

Personally I chose the i5-11400 and the SAMSUNG 250GB 970 EVO Plus NVMe. I chose this PC for my Mom, and from using it it's also plenty fast
