Windows 11 Home 64-bit
I am trying to bypass Windows 11 requirements on a computer that was originally running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. It runs Windows 10 Home 64-bit just fine. Can someone assist me on how to bypass the strict requirements? I have downloaded the Windows 11 ISO file from Microsoft and I used rufus3.17. But the rufus did not come with the way to bypass the RAM. It only came with a way to bypass the CPU and TPM.

Each time I try to install it from the desktop on the said Laptop, the computer says

"This PC doesn't currently meet Windows 11 system requirements because of the following:

- The processor needs to have two or more cores.
- The PC must support TPM 2.0.
- The PC must support Secure Boot.
- There must be at least 4 GB of system memory.

The computer belongs to my Aunt. The Laptop is a TOSHIBA Satellite C655-S5132.

If Windows 11 can run on an 11 year old laptop as someone else mentioned, then it can run on this one.

The CPU is only single core and there's less than 4gb of RAM? You might get Win 11 to run with a lot of finagling, but it will be a slug. I wouldn't bother. Good luck finding drivers that will work, including graphics drivers. Looking up the specs of that system it has a weak Celeron processor with integrated GMA 4500 graphics. I would classify it as a lost cause. It would struggle mightily with Win 10, let alone 11.

By any stretch of the imagination, that is a low spec to be running Windows 10, let alone Windows 11. Personally I'd recommend sticking with Windows 10 if its working well. It will remain in full support until October 2025.

Processor and Graphics
Intel® Celeron® processor 925 - 2.3 GHz, 1MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB
Mobile Intel® GL40 Express Chipset
Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M with 128MB-1341MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory
Memory
Configured with 3GB DDR2 (max 4GB)
2 memory slots. Both slots occupied.

However, if you want to try then make sure you first use Macrium Reflect Free or similar to make a system image of its current Windows 10 install before trying. At least you can then put it back to how it was should it all go horribly wrong.

To upgrade an unsupported machine such as this, run the Setup from within Windows. Make sure you do NOT let it check online for updates. When it gets to the 'failure' screen....

W11 upgrade - unsupported (1).png

...open File Explorer, go to C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources and delete appraiserres.dll. You will need to show hidden items to be able to see it.

W11 upgrade - unsupported (2).png

Now click the Back button in Windows 11 Setup, then click the Next button.

fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.

unsupported machine: Legacy bios, MBR, TPM 1.2, upgraded from W10 to W11 using W10/W11 hybrid install media workaround. In-place upgrade to 22H2 using ISO and a workaround. Feature Update to 23H2 by manually installing the Enablement Package.

My Aunt told me not to worry about it. She has a Dell at home that is newer. The Laptop, she is just using for travel when some comes and visits her son. I was just wanting to save her some money, so she won't have to buy a new one when Windows 10 support ends.

That's not for nearly four years, even if that laptop lasts that long.

That's in October 2025. I believe that security updates will continue for some time after that, although there has been no official word.

Do her a favor, and don't mess with it.

I totally agree with everyone else. I wouldn't even attempt to run 11 on less than 4 gb ram. Honestly, I can't understand how 64 bit Windows 10 doesn't completely bog down.

Maybe it's this model,

It would still need a ram upgrade from 3GB to 4GB anyway so I agree it's not worth the hassle.

The drivers will simply fit from W10.

Probably most will but maybe not all.
In my case, I scanned for drivers the driver shop of my Win 8.1 installation, and all the drivers installed. But the video driver seems to work much less stably, and many apps crash it, some in 100% reproducible way, which throws me to the logon screen (where I have to enter password twice, once in a screen with nature background, and second time on a screen with blue background, I do not know, what this twin login is for). Then after logon I have to go to the device manager, where the video driver is with exclamation mark. There, I disable it and again enable. I have to do this every time in some scenarios, for instance, when starting an emulator of an old 1980s home computer with a wrong HDD image, and then exiting it, the video driver and the session crashes 100%, even when the emulator is in windowed mode.

It usually depends on how old the hardware is. The older it is, the less chance Windows 11 will find a driver for it. Overall it does do an amazing job though. The computer in question here is pretty old.
