No doubt it's a performer, which is why I wondered what the point about getting a network card was. Surprised to learn it only does 1Gb which is okay for most users, but a bit humble for a high end ROG board. Myself, my networking is only 1Gb max but many people are doing up to 10 these days. Even in my considerably remote location we now have 10Gb fiber. I guess it would really depend on your net speed whether or not you actually need it.

*Another question. Why would you have a WiFi card in it if it already has built in WiFi? Is the card that much more better than the native onboard WiFi? Just curious as I try to dodge onboard WiFi whenever possible.

Gave Dell touch screen with Windows 11 to daughter and got me an OTVOC. Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.

I’m on a 2000/500 plan
Router has a speed test in it to check connection. It gets something like 2100/550

I want that to reach my pc. I’ve run a dedicated cable from the router to the pc yesterday, all the rest of my network (18 cables) run to a switch then to the router.

I’ll never get in a ceiling again. At my age it was a dumb idea.

Ha! 😄 I hear you but I salute you, soldier. I'm running cables up and down all three floors here. Yeah, I'd pull the WiFi card if I had to since it already has WiFi onboard and mainline it with some real speed as you evidently plan to do. At our ages we just have to go a bit slower, that's all. Doesn't mean we have to settle for slow internet. I'll take direct connect over WiFi any day when it comes to using a desk top.

WiFi on that board came off due to the manufacture trusting an idiot with their hardware. Currently have a new WiFi 7 & Bluetooth card in it, external antenna.

But yeah, cables all the way.

We have colourbond roofing (metal roofing) It hit 32deg Celsius here yesterday, amplify that by a min of 2x in the oven that it is.
I was wearing a thick high res long sleeved shirt in case of any snakes (found a baby behind the drawers when clearing a way to the office wall)
It was hot. Plus my office is the last room in the house, roof tapered down until I was laying on my stomach on roofing beams so not as to fall through the plaster board.

Something blocked the 3 meter long Perspex feeder so I had to go back down, grab one of the security system Ethernet cables, attach a cord to it. Get back in the ceiling, call my wife to watch the cables, finally pulled on the right cable of 8 cables, pulled it up, attached the Cat 8 cable, went back down and pulled it through with the cord.

Thought I was going to have to call the fire brigade to remove some roofing and lift my fast arse out of there. Would have been funny as…

Ahh the security cameras, yes. I didn’t install those but yes. I think they get 12v (or whatever they need) from the security box via the Ethernet.

If you want, you can disable Ethernet from Settings that what I have done.

Just make sure the cards are the right type for your laptop.
Fortunately, all of the laptops I upgraded were DELLS and used AX210 NGW
with an M.2 2230 connector with an A+E Key

Just research and lookup if your laptops use it.
