I am ripping my hair out figuratively, this network display/sharing thing with Windows 11, anyway after finishing all the current windows 11 updates, my network display/sharing is gone beep, anyway again after week-ish of dabbling I was able to figure out that private network does not display/share the network anymore that I am able to figure out, however, public network does display the network, and I feel like I am in the twilight zone am I missing something, is this a Windows 11 thing please because to me that is backwards and the computers I am networking are brand new so I do not think I would have some how made the network backwards by mistake please, however, I am very tired so hopefully I do not sound like a ninny

P.S. I even did the SMB thing and the restart network thing and all I was able to figure out after all that is the Public Network thing, is that correct for windows 11 please, and if the private network does display/share please help or is the public display/sharing a windows 11 thing please? Thank you!

Your network must be set to private on all systems in the network.. MS has tightened security in Win11 regarding sharing and this has broken sharing for many people and it's become a big mess in some cases. Check this article for BASIC settings. File sharing over a network in Windows - Microsoft Support

If your shared computers are not showing up in your network map see if you can access them by computer name.
  • Open File Explorer.
  • In the address bar, type the following: \\computername (replace "computername" with the name of the computer you're connecting to).
  • Press Enter.
  • Enter the credentials for THAT computer
  • Note: You can also use ip address in address bar but if you do assign your devices static ip addresses because they will not always be assigned the same ip address by the router.

  • Whichever of these methods allows you to get to the other machine, create a shortcut to it on desktop, and pin that shortcut to quick access. You can then delete the shortcut from desktop.
Once you can get to the other machines, if you are unable to access their network shares, there are a number of reasons it can be. Get that far and then report back to us with any issues you encounter at that point.
