OK, New here and joined originally to investigate an annoying "slow connection speed " issue I was having with a new install of 11 Pro. Since I have since solved the issue, what better way to 1st post, then to share the results as it was a really long deep dive. It began with speed tests of 30-35 Mbps of my available 400 Mbps, no matter wired or onboard Wi-Fi. Almost like it was metered. (it was not).
Began with the usual suspects, cables, ports, resets, restarts, reboots, uninstall / reinstall network adapters, update network drivers from Gigabyte and network reset, well you get where I`m going here.
Then after hrs. of research on the AIs and forums I went deep with: disabling Flow Control, Maximizing Buffers, Turn Off all Offload Features, disabled Green Ethernet, disabled Metered Detection, Set Speed & Duplex Manually to 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex, Modified set value to 1 in DefaultMediaCost via regedit, Renamed the DefaultAccount key and finally, deleted the entire CloudStore key to force CloudStore to repopulate ! I`m sure I forgot something. Guess what ? wired speed @ 35 Mbps still. And to make it even more stupid .... Plug in any USB WiFi dongle I have and get double (up to 80Gbps) but still no where near the 370-380 I would expect. I have another 24H2 build sitting right beside it with almost the exact same hardware getting 380-400 Mbps.
Out of frustration, I asked another AI I hadn`t previously used. Been using Copilot. Low and behold comes the answer.... under advanced options, delivery optimization I had "allow downloads from other devices" turned on, just to speed up the updating process. Toggled to OFF and instantly had my speed. I`m surprised that I found this nowhere and no bug reports. Hope this helps somebody. Great to be here !
