Yes it is only 1tb but it does have core i7, 32gb ram and a good graphics card. And a 2tb ssd probably only costs another $100 To swap in there. But yes that puts t $99 over the $2000 budget.

Was this the one you saw with the Nvidia 4060? It's a good price! As far as I'm aware it's just an older graphics card, but not that old, it's just the 50's are newer! My stepson still has the 3060 and it's fine. I'm guessing laptops don't have upgradeable graphics cards.

Sort of leaning towards this one at the moment from Best Buy it's under $2k and has almost everything I want except the 2TB drive but everything else is there 32GB Ram and a 5070 GPU


As for the 4060 yeah that's sort of what I thought that it was older version which I would not want as older just means have to replace it sooner!

You have to remember that what is in Laptops is the Laptop versions of the GPU. e.g. RTX 5070 Laptop. In most cases they miss out the Laptop word. Bestbuy does that, look it up with ASUS data sheets.
The laptop versions consuming much less power and thus less performance. Same applies to the CPUs used.

The model you mention may come with 1TB SSD but there is another M.2 slot which appears to take up to 2 TB.

The game titles you mention have modest minimum requirements.

Thanks for pointing out the second slot!!! I was showing this to a gaming friend of mine and asked him about this also and he pointed out thats UP TO 2TB PER SLOT!!! so depending one what my old computers using I might have a free 2TB card to slide right in. Just have to get the stuff off it first them format it to clear off all the items then use it if it's compatible. Have to see first though. If that works can have up to 3TB almost from the start!

I have the RTX 4060 laptop GPU inside my Asus TUF Gaming F16 (2024) laptop. This laptop comes with a 240W power supply, it needs to be plugged in to be able to activate the best performance power profile. IMO this specific laptop GPU is still quite good enough for quasi-competitive, high FPS gaming with almost all modern games titles at 1920×1200 (WUXGA) resolution on a 165Hz IPS panel. However, at 2560×1600 (WQXGA) resolution on a fast 240Hz screen with a maximum brightness of 500 nits IMO you really want that RTX 5070 Ti laptop GPU, 12GB GDDR7 and 140W TGP (Total Graphics Power). The "regular" RTX 5070 only has 8GB GDDR7 so, the "Ti" matters. And you also really want a very potent CPU to go with that. The Core Ultra 7 255HX will NOT be overkill. And before anyone should ask, yes, the "HX" also matters, and matters a lot. "Core i7" and "Core Ultra 7" are just marketing terms, but even the Core i9 14900HX is still a significant step below the Core Ultra 7 255HX in overall gaming performance on a gaming laptop that not only has the RTX 5070 Ti laptop GPU, but also has the cooling capacity and the maximum power delivery capability to actually put a smile on the face of said RTX 5070 Ti laptop GPU. It's the goldilocks chip in the laptop GPU department currently. Your budget allows it, and, your budget allows to make it shine.

That said, I am by no means trying to force you to game at 2560×1600. Gaming at 1920×1200 won't usually be as good, but it won't necessarily always completely suck. Should you decide to go for a HP Omen 16 (2025), then whatever you do, don't go for a HP Omen 16 (2025) that has the 144Hz 1920×1200 IPS panel in it. The response time on that panel is abysmally slow so, the fact that it can do 144Hz becomes kind of pointless, and worse, this panel is limited to 45% NTSC colors. (That's the superlative of shameful TBH...)

Replacing the SDD in a laptop requires about one hour (including the clone) or a little more for an inexperienced user. If I were you, I would buy the 1TB model and the 2TB disk some time later. Then I would connect the 2TB disk with a USB adapter and clone the 1TB disk. Then when given the opportunity and have at least one hour alone at home, I would swap the disks, hide the original disk and never tell the wife.

Sell the wife for two camels! ^^

Tell her you bought a 1TB disk to upgrade her laptop and put your old disk in hers. Both happy unless she finds out

Even if she does find out, you can still offer your apologies for your having done it on purpose.
