Hi to everyone!

Do people who use New Outlook have issues with IMAP accounts recently?

For first half of 2025, New Outlook worked quite fine. However, in last 2 - 3 months I had huge number of issues with IMAP accounts. I.e. they work one day, another day they do not work / do not get updated at all. Third day, they seems to work, but no mail can be send - Outlook just gives message "this mail can not be saved" and all mails are stuck in drafts. Then day after, Outlook is working again properly.

I migrated back to classic Outlook and Mailspring on another PC, but just asking out of curiosity - what is mileage of other users?

Lord knows that New Outlook for Windows has plenty of problems. But my GMail IMAP accounts at least always connect and sync.

Reset your New Outlook profile and add back your IMAP accounts?

This completely resets your New Outlook for Windows profile. This will take you back to square one. You will have to add back all of your accounts and redo all your settings.

Exit the App. (Make sure it's not hiding in your Taskbar)
Open a Windows Explorer to %LocalAppData%\Microsoft.
Find and delete the "Olk" folder (or rename to "Olk_OLD").
Find and delete the "OneAuth" folder (or rename to "OneAuth_OLD")
Run Outlook and add back your email accounts and redo all of your settings.

Will try today or tomorrow, thanks.

I am surprised because it worked quite well for months, and then suddenly IMAP accounts went crazy... Maybe really reset will help.

You can go to Installed Apps > Outlook for Windows > 3 dots > Advanced options > Repair/Reset.

Far easier than post #3 which just a complicated error prone way of doing the same thing.

Just to report, I tried, no luck. Some IMAP accounts work, some do not.

Apparently, as far as I found out, issue is not local, but on server-side. Microsoft does not offer options to reset server-side IMAP settings, instead it should be done through resetting New Outlook... except it does not work. So, adding some new account for IMAP works fine, but old accounts do not work because settings on server side are garbled.

Great work, Microsoft. absolutely great.

Does your Classic Outlook have the same problems with the bad accounts?
What are the domains (the part after the "@") of the bad accounts?

-- settings on server side are garbled.

Are you talking about settings like the IMAP server name and port?

-- reset server-side IMAP settings

Not something I'm familiar with. Could you give me an example of how you do an IMAP reset for an account?

No, classic Outlook and Mailspring are working fine with same accounts.

New Outlook route all trafic through Microsoft servers. Apparently, when you set up new Outlook, some setup is performed on Microsoft server side to pass traffic properly.

When you add IMAP account to Outlook, setup is performed automatically. But it seems that if account is added again via other PC, or removed and added again, settings are not updated properly and new Outlook becomes completely lost.

I don't, and I think it is not even possible to be done. But Microsoft is obviously aware of issue, because they often offer old Outlook as alternative until IMAP accounts are completely fixed.

Since we waited for one year for OneDrive personak accounts sharing to be solved, I am not surprised that this issue is kept in dark too.

One of the suggestions in the thread you referenced is Sign Me Out Everywhere. Have you tried removing the accounts from New Outlook and then a sign out everywhere?

You never said what your IMAP domains were.

But for Google you can remove the "Cloud Connection" from your Google Third-party apps & services page.

e.g. On my Google Account, New Outlook for Windows shows as "Microsoft apps & services" and you have the option to "Delete the connections you have with Microsoft apps & services".

Several IMAP domains - mail.foodtechden.com, mail.znamgraf.rs, mail.carnex.rs.

Google accounts works fine. Yandex mail works so-so, sometimes perfect, sometimes a bit slow, but it works.

Custom IMAP domains are issue.
