Since everything else was working, I did not think about reinstalling, but that seems to have fixed it.

I had plans to improve my "other" script (see the 1st half of my post here) in a way that is similar to what you have done. I know that this would be really very easy and fast to achieve, but I never got around to it, because it's boring (and mostly because I am very lazy), and besides, almost no one seemed to be interested in it so, I ended up watching TV instead. lol

Did a test, but can't find what you are pointing at.

Or should there be some extra options in the windows taskbar settings? I did not see them.
I only see the message that in this version of Windows the windows 10 taskbar is not available.
Please explain where to look carefully.

Now I indeeed could change the taskbar height and other settings from Windows 10.

And indeed, as I was hoping for, by means of OpenShell I was able to change the color of the taskbar to opaque gray.
I just wonder why that option is hidden so thoroughly.

So my impression is, it is still under development, hopeful the dev will make the program more stable.
Because I normally seldom have 'program errors' and would not like to get them because this program still is unfinished..
The VirtualBox Windows system indeed got stuck several times, had to reset it again and again to get it running.
But I have had that before, so I'm not sure if that has to do with ExplorerPatcher.

It certainly could be a promising alternative to StartAllBack or Start11, if either of those that programs would fail me.

This option is seen in 24H2, it wasn't there in 23H2 because it wasn't necessary. A known bug in both my computers with Explorer Patcher and Open Shell is that the taskbar color reverts to Windows default if you click the search icon or search box. Also the search icon might disappear. To get it back, switch to search box and back to icon.

I see what you are pointing at.
The problem might be caused by the fact that OpenShell was not updated since 2023 August, so is not modified to fit the 24H2 taskbar.
As I see it, it is a true wonder that changing the taskbar color is still possible in that version.
Could have been as well that the system would completely crash on that...

I normally don't use the search box, never have it switched on (as far as the taskbar is concerned) my system.
If I have to search in the system, I use the search box in the standard Windows startmenu, which in OpenShell can be reached by shift startbutton. And in StartAllBack and Start11 they have separate search boxes in their startmenus.

For searching in files I use the program 'Everything', that's searching the maps and files really megafast.
And searching the internet I do in Firefox, in a searchengine I choose for the purpose.
Never use the built-in search that ends in Edge (I don't like the use of Edge).

I use search to load applications I am too lazy to find in All applications list in start menu. It is faster to type PowerShell or Chrome and click to open than searching through tens of applications in start menu.

Already many years I am having a very organized Start Menu, where I immediately can find the desired program or function.
Hardly ever need to use the search.

As StartAllBack has a rather useful startmenu as well, last weeks I am testing to use that instead of the OpenShell startmenu.
That's because indeed OpenShell has not updated a long time...

I am not yet sure what to use in future, but I can switch between those two rather easily.

BTW. I really hate the unorganized Windows 11 startmenu with all programs to go through and hardly ever use that.

Thanks, I upgraded. The bug of the search icon disappearing when using EP with Open Shell doesn't seem to have fixed yet. By the way, does anyone knows which system file contains the network icon? The old file C:\Windows\Systsem32\pnidui.dll is not present in 24H2. @Brink, please do your magic! Thanks

Upgraded to 24H2 and cannot find the network icons system file

I have kept the pnidui.dll file from 23H2 and I copied it to C:\Windows\System32. It made no difference since it is ignored in 24H2. The network icon on the taskbar comes from another file. The question is which one, so I can replace the icons? Just to make it clear, I am not looking how to...

sugestion for next version explorer patcher is option to reduce even more spaces in the taskbar, icons and tray as in the image below, I am using startallback which has this option in a single line, it fits much more icons like this

I have two laptop's both had the File Explorer error of TWO D drives when using a external drive. Was shown how to fix through register edit. before upgrading to 24H2. a week later I upgraded to 24H2 on my New Dell laptop had to fix it again. I posted on feedback may times to fix it once in for all. Three weeks later my second older HP laptop received 24H2 update that went smoother. Then today I engaged the external drive expecting to have to fix file Explorer to my surprise I did not have too. This proves feedback works and that maybe why the update went better with my HP laptop.

ExplorerPatcher already has an option to reduce even more spaces in the taskbar, icons and tray, and fits much more icons than StartAllBack does. It has always been like that, ever since Windows 11 was officially released.. and it still is. That's the main reason why I use ExplorerPatcher instead of StartAllBack. See below.
