New Version of ExplorerPatcher

Is it just me or the on-screen volume slider/indicator (not one in the tray) not shows up when changing volume with the latest EP update?
They're in the gear cog thingy next to the time.

I just posted a thread about this. I noticed it was gone, too. Not sure if it's EP's fault or MS's latest update. It's in the Control Center in the tray, but that's annoying/inconvenient.

As much as I'm happy to see EP updated to work with KB5022913, I think I need to seriously start learning to adapt to the default Win11 taskbar & start menu. The day is sure to come when EP dies for good, and I don't want to be taken by surprise at an inconvenient time.

After uninstalling the EP everything works fine, so I'm pretty sure it's EP bug.

That works, but the volume indicator just above the taskbar in the center of the screen does not shows up. This thingy:View attachment 54212
No, it doesn't, but I can live without that. Those giant icons are horrendous.

I'm pretty happy with the latest EP; certainly better than the stock Win11 thick taskbar. Out of curiosity, does Start11 take up extra CPU cycles to run? Or, is it more like EP? Also are there any benefits to using Start11 over EP (besides the possibility of EP not working in a future Win11 update)?

I have moved to Start11 permanently after EP started getting buggy thanks to Microsoft's endless updates. I haven't noticed any slowdown on my laptop and it is constantly updated (you get what you pay for as they say) since it's a paid app.

I just upgraded to: Win11 22H2 - KB5022913. I'm trying to access the new Bing AI powered searchbox integrated into the Windows Taskbar. However, I don't see it. I only see a magnifying glass. Is this because I'm using EP? Do I have the right version of windows?

Right click on Taskbar and click on Taskbar settings. Make sure to the right of Search that Search Box or Search Box and Icon are selected. See attached images. I found that you seem to have to first set EP to show search button, then set the Taskbar settings option.

Would anyone happen to know if there's a way to preserve/backup/export my current EP settings, so I can uninstall it and see if I can work out a satisfactory way to use the default Win11 taskbar? And if I don't like it, I can reinstall EP and bring back the settings.

EDIT: Oh wait.... duh.... it's right there in Properties > About > Export current settings.
That's me leaping before I look again.
😄

Do I need to also install the Bing app? My start menu doesn't show any Bing-related searches; certainly not Bing AI.

With update KB5022913, changing the File Explorer Control Interface to Windows 10 Ribbon or Windows 7 Command Bar does not work. The Windows 11 Command Bar remains. All features

Also, clicking on the Pen Menu when the Windows 10 Taskbar is active causes a lockup and eventual crash / restart of explorer.

Hello!
I want to report a bug. I just installed all the available Windows Updates in my father's computer, including an optional cumulative update, don't remember which, and after restart File Explorer (aka Windows Explorer) could not load. It showed the desktop wallpaper for 1-2 seconds and then crashed and then again and again. I pressed CTRL+ALT+DEL and selected Task Manager to find 5-6 instances of Explorer.exe in Details tab none of which worked. I ended all these instances and then select Run new task and typed msedge to load Edge. I downloaded the latest version of Explorer Patcher and installed it. This fixed the bug. So I advise others to update Explorer Patcher BEFORE installing all Windows Updates to avoid such incompatibilities. I hope that helps.

PS: I don't think the computer specs are relevant to the bug, but if you want them it is a custom-built unsupported PC based on an Intel Pentium G4560 3.50GHz, 4GB DDR3 RAM, SSD Kingston 240GB SATA 2.5", onboard Intel HD graphics, Windows 11 Pro 22H2 build 22621.134
