Windows 11 - 24H2
Hi,

I hope that someone will help me to figure this out.

After upgrading my Windows 11 installation to 24H2 directly via Windows Update, I'm seeing new strange "Volume" in System Protection when I open System Restore option.

This new Volume is present in "Available Drives" underneath C:\ drive, and I don't know what it is.

It wasn't there before upgrading to version 24H2.

And I can't see this additional drive in Disk Management.

I did a clean install, not an upgrade and I have it as well. I believe that correlates to the 100mb efi partition that is not assigned a drive letter. I have system restore turned off so hadn't noticed it.

I've never been able to fix this, even though I also performed in-place upgrade because of some issues with instaling preview cumulative update from March.

It is the Recovery Partition. When the Recovery Partition is larger than 1GB it shows in System Restore. The way to get it not to show there is to shrink it below that size using something like diskpart. I have never done this because its never bothered me that much.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?

It will show in System Restore as a drive just like other drives (provided it is larger than 1GB) even if System Restore is OFF on any/all drives.

Ten points?.....No idea why I would need them but OK. Money would be better in truth.

:-)
