New X-Lite Optimum is out!

There was no trolling whatsoever whatever these so called optimized versions do you can do it by yourself i literally run on 65 process and could go even with less.... you can just collect malwares that you dunno it has and be on botnet with kind of versions..
The "malware" scare again, someone will ALWAYS say that.... I have been using various versions (of customized versions) windows for YEARS, NEVER got a virus from them. Like anything just be careful!

I'm not having an issue with it. However we have been having some issues with Brave and FireFox on some of the Win 11 Rufus installs here on the home front. It's minor as the browsers will still work and the PCs I'm referring to are only aux PCs, not mains.
Any WHY would Rufus be the issue?

No clue. The installs I was referring to were made on non-Windows 11 compliant hardware so perhaps that is the reason but I have Win 11 installed on other non-compliant hardware and I'm not having browser issues with them.

Technically, it should. So far I've only run into one system that doesn't seem to want to install X-Lite and it is rather old.

So far, exactly NONE of the fearful speculation about being more vulnerable to malware and viruses if you don't use all the spyware windows comes with has had any basis in reality that I'm aware of. It's NICE being able to rely on your computer for a change.... most of the problems with windows are caused by the constant updates.

I find the "security argument" against modded Windows OS tremendously over-rated. What. It's not like MS is going compensate the victim for any losses due to system vulnerabilities if the said victim chooses to keep everything MS gives them. (Shudder the thought.) MS hangs a big EULA sign over the front entrance that can be easily summed up as "enter at your own risk". This is exactly the deal you get with X-Lite or pretty much any other OS. Windows is no exception here. X-Lite does provide Windows security updates. Interestingly, I recently learned that it is also inclined to disregard certain "security" updates that are in actuality malicious. Perhaps one is required to rethink one's definition of "security" here. I suppose one cannot blame a forthright and trustworthy corporation for securing profit.

MS is a corporation. It's only doing what corporations do. Ethics are not part of this equation. The bottom line is profit. I keep telling folks that they are their own best first line of defence. People instinctively seek after a bigger power, a hero, a champion to keep them safe and secure. This is historical. Unfortunately, the more one leans upon a second party for their security they have to relinquish certain liberties such as proprietary rights and autonomy. The dynamic applies to the world of compute as much as it applies to society in general. Decentralization isn't easy. Opting for running your own cloud, your own network, and your own security can get costly and time consuming. Most folks won't bother. They don't have the time or inclination so they pay someone else to do it for them. Having the best of both worlds requires some dedication at the personal level and it is far from perfect. As the saying goes, you can lead a horse to water.

I'm not surprised that X-Lite is starting to charge a $10 fee. You have a legitimate Windows license and do not need to pay any fees to other organizations.

That's strange. I just downloaded and installed x-lite on a friend's laptop three days ago. Didn't cost me anything except my time, of which significantly less was spent in every step, vs downloading and installing windows directly from Microsoft...

None. Manully configured so nobody except me can change any critical system files. (Don't ask how, it's probably against some rule somewhere)

Same here. I didn't have to pay anything either.

We don't know yet whether it's just because it's 26H1 or new releases going forward, we'll have to wait for the next one to see

Interestingly, the Ko-Fi page is gone.

The builds for 25H2 v3 and 26H1 v3 are gone as well.
