Ninite? Install and Update All Your Programs at Once

I was wrong :( about installing MS Office with winget. Browsing around, I learned about the website winget.run. From this website, I learned that there is in fact a winget command

winget install -e --id Microsoft.Office

To be clear, I have not tried to run this command yet. I need to set up some VMs to test out various package manager before I wipe this mongrel Win 11 install and do a clean install, followed by customization, program installs, etc. etc.
That's the web setup installer (https://officecdn.microsoft.com/pr/wsus/setup.exe), which uses the install options:

- O365ProPlusRetail 16.0 (excluding Groove, Lync)
- VisioProRetail
- ProjectProRetail

So this is NOT the installer for PC-based programs? Darn!

For a long time now, I have downloaded installer programs and stored them in my F drive partition, so I could do installs more conveniently on any of my syst4ems. However, this has become a real PITA, especially with frequent program updates. My goal (and hope) is that I could do away with all these downloaded installers in favor of UnigetUI for future system builds. If so, that would allow me to do more fresh installs to clean up the inevitable cruft that accumulates in my Windows partition. I store all my user data in my D partition, and all my photos/books/music/videos in my E partition. I use this drive/partition plan on all my systems (and wife's system).

As @pseymour pointed out, many users like to customize their Office setup. The winget package has a set of default config options, and you get what those defaults are. Office 365 ProPlus Retail 16.0 without Groove & Lync.

If you're fine accepting those defaults, then winget should be fine for you. Many users like to customize their Office installs, because they might only use Word or Excel, and not the rest of the suite.

I find Ninite pretty useful when it comes to .NET updates. Almost every month I'm missing one or two of them and Ninite fills in that hole. I have their website bookmark on my browser's toolbar so it's easy to get to. But I also use UniGetUI for many other things.

I'd recommend it. 👍
