Not All Icons Showing In The System Tray??

I can have a varying number in the TRAY. It's just the first one that always disappears.
I can see the empty space where your invisible icon should be. Have you tried rearranging the order of the icons in the tray? What happens if you click and drag one of the visible ones to the first position? Can you drag the invisible one to the left? Does it then become visible and another one disappears?

Hi,

those problems often appeared in WIN 7. I have an old Laptop with WIndows 7 (32 bit) on it for my old astronomy programs.
I kept on this laptop a registry script called "System Tray cleanup" which I found on the net longtime ago.

I have opened it in Notepad and can copy the script here. It contains, in addition to the "resetting of the notification area" mentionned above, some additional registry "hacks". I do not think, it can do any harm.

PLEASE make a (registry) BACKUP however.

Copy the following text into Notepad and save it as "System Tray cleanup" for instance and save it not as a ".txt file", but as a ".reg file" (with the .reg extension). It will then show a green icon. Then run the script.

Here is the text:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TrayNotify]
"PastIconsStream"=-
"IconStreams"=-

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoSaveSettings"=-
"NoTrayItemsDisplay"=-

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

Good luck (but no guarantee)

Hello swerd,

I'm having the same problem (I posted about it yesterday) although in my case it isn't the actual system tray, but rather the task bar to the left of the system tray. At any rate, document icons are disappearing when I open other documents and so I can't access the first files that I opened. I was just wondering if you've managed to resolve the situation. I can get around it by making all of the task bar icons smaller (registry fix), but then the icons in the notification area/system tray are no longer aligned horizontally and the clock is only partially visible (because I have set it to show dual times).

Nope, still the same. I hope MS is on this though.

OK.

I updated to 22H2 hoping the issue will be gone.. It's still there.

I am a bit disappointed. :(
