Not sure if I should install these drivers

I'm probably going to get a Lenovo Desktop ThinkCentre M70t Gen 5. I have already downloaded the drivers for it. I'm wondering if I should install the Camera and Card Reader drivers. One is an Alcor Card Reader Driver. One says Realtek Card Reader Driver. And the last is called Sunix 4Port Com Card Driver.

As far as I can tell, the computer does not come with a card reader. And my current monitor does not have a built in webcam.

I'm kinda doubtful about whether installing these are necessary.

Why??? A new OEM system will have all appropriate drivers already installed. While yes, one or 2 drivers may have been updated between the device leaving the factory and the time you get it, you have no idea which drivers will need updated. Updating OEM drivers is made easy since they include their own app to keep everything, drivers and bios updated.

In any case, after installing Windows, you will see all your devices in Device Manager. If any driver is missing, you will see it.

A new system out of the box will work and all drivers will have been installed.
Lenovo also make a Drivers folder with those drivers in.

Then you use the Lenovo Vantage App and Windows updates.

As others have mentioned... don't fool around with the drivers or you'll over-think yourself into a mess.

If a guy decides to do a fresh install of the operating system, it's a good idea to have the drivers already downloaded. Computers come with lots of garbage software. Of course, I can always do Lenovo System Update and get the drivers that way. But I always think it's a good idea to manually have the drivers you need in a folder somewhere on a external hard drive for safekeeping.

MS made it possible to export (backup), your drivers from a functioning install.
That way if you ever need to reinstall, you can just import (restore), the drivers...
In the tutorial below, I use Option One to backup drivers, and if needed, Option Six to restore them.



Your idea is a good one. There's just an easier way to do it, these days.
For example... here's my drivers backup...





Maybe for Christmas, MS will allow us to export all our "Settings" as well.

That is not true these days, typically it maybe trial versions of MS Office an AV App like McAfee.
I just use them for the trial period and then uninstall.

Most Lenovo drivers come via Windows updates, not the Vantage App.

There is thinking and doing:
Doing would include downloading the Recovery Media from Lenovo, copying that Lenovo drivers folder to another disc. Obviously over the years that becomes less useful as it is the version that was originally installed.
