This release addresses 4 security issues (CVE-2023-40031, CVE-2023-40036, CVE-2023-40164 & CVE-2023-40166) and introduces several bug-fixes and new features.

1. Fix 4 security issues CVE-2023-40031, CVE-2023-40036, CVE-2023-40164 & CVE-2023-40166.
2. Security enhancement: Sign uninstall.exe.
3. Change the slogan in installer.
4. Fix eventual memory leak while reading Utf8-16 files.
5. Fix dragging tab performance issue while Document List is displayed.
6. Add supperss 2GB file warning option for x64.
7. Fix cloned document disassociated issue after Notepad++ being relaunched.
8. Fix session file saving problem if it's read-only.
9. Fix activating wrong file(s) issue after loading session file.
10. Fix wrong product version value displayed in file's properties.

Notepad++ v8.9.7 vulnerability fixes, regression fix & bug-fixes:

1. Vulnerability: Fix Stack Buffer Overflow in expandNppEnvironmentStrs.
2. Vulnerability: Enhance loading session.xml security by normalizing the file paths.
3. Vulnerability: Fix updater (WinGUp) path traversal (Zip Slip) issue.
4. Vulnerability: Fix shortcuts.xml macro HMAC bypass issue.
5. Vulnerability: Improve robustness of Powershell command in installer.
6. Fix "Find in Files" unresponsive issue.
7. Fix regression where opening relative paths as file & in Explorer didn't work.
8. Fix disappearing or duplicated file items in Folder as Workspace.
9. Fix freeze caused by directory symbolic links in Folder as Workspace root.
10. Update to Scintilla 5.6.4 & Lexilla 5.5.1.
11. Fix undo in cloned document not scrolling to undone change in original document.
12. Fix crash issue caused by LexBaan.
13. Make XML CDATA color different from the enclosed elements.
14. Update pugixml to v1.16.
15. Remember Folder as Workspace expand/collapse state across sessions.
16. Add "Count" option to improve Incremental Search performance.
17. Add "nth of count" information to Incremental Search.
18. Improve "Count" performance in Incremental Search.
19. Add full ANSI EscapeSequence lexing.
20. Fix plugin toolbar icon not scaling correctly on high DPI displays.
21. Fix incorrectly disabled Paste command.
22. Add "Print FormFeed as Page Break" option.
23. Make message boxes dark via task dialogs.
24. Enhance color picker to remember custom colors across sessions.
25. Ensure searchResult stays last after styles XML merge.
26. Update PHP keywords / auto-completion.
27. Update CSS keywords / auto-completion.
28. Fix truncted INS/OVR indicator on Status bar.
