Solved Numerous tmp file in Windows folder
My C drive Windows folder has many tmp files. These are the two folders that contain the files:
Windows\System32\SysWOW64 nnnnnnnn.tmp
Windows\System32 nnnnnnnn.tmp
All of the tmp files are 87.9 MB.
Both folders are 33.8 GB in size.
As far as I can see, the file names are the same in both folders.
When edited, they are unreadable.
They were created back in January and February of this year.

If you check Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, do you see any software that was installed back when the files were created?

tmp are temporary files and as such can be deleted. Any that are needed will be recreated immedately after but these should not take up MBs of space as they do now.
Also run 'Disk Clean-up' in Administrator mode to search for other deletable files.

Can they be deleted?
You mean
%SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\ *.tmp not
%SystemRoot%\System32\SysWOW64\ *.tmp
&
%SystemRoot%\System32\ *.tmp
I don't know why you'd have so many there, but yes, they can be deleted.

Apparently, i have 5742 of those. Found out just now, so it took awhile to delete them:
Did a bit of research - and all this temp files are suppose to be remnants created by Microsoft Provisioning and Disabling their automated taks from: Task Scheduler => Microsoft\Windows\Management\Provisioning - solves this ancient issue (did that too just now - so i'll check again in the future and see if it works).
