OFFICE 365 error

Hi, anyone else come across this issue before

we have just migrated over to windows 11 and for some reason office 365 keeps breaking

when clicking on office applications we receive the update message, "updating 365 and office please wait" followed by error 0xc0000142

the issue can be resolved by doing a full uninstall of office 365 and reinstall, however the same issue happens again on some machines a few days later

any ideas ?

Which version/make/model of Office 365?

Have you purchased/subscribed, or are you just using the default (demo) version that comes with Windows?

Hi.

I believe that error is more related to apps failing to run as apposed to updates.
I assume that you’ve remotely deployed M365 (from reading another thread of yours)
Worth a look:

Check Office Software Protection Platform
Open Services (as you would know — Win + R, type services.msc)
Find Office Software Protection Platform
Make sure it’s set to Automatic and Running

yes we have remotely deployed 365 , software protection is already set to automatic
we use the semi annual license 365 is using version 16.0.185626.20472

There are a few M365 diagnostic tools you could take a look at

Microsoft 365 troubleshooters - Microsoft Support

There is supposed to be a Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) that can alledgedly help diagnose M365 deploymet issues. I couldn’t find “SaRA “ specifically?

There are some system admins around somewhere, maybe they’ll catch your thread. I’d rather not nominate members, doesn’t always end well for me.

Might pay from here on in to add “Remote Deployment” at the begining of your thread titles, if so related.

looking at the error logs it looks like also getting this error microsoft.office.airspace.blocked graphics adapter
reinstalled and updated graphics same issue
might not be related

You can do following checks, it might help (wherever its working leave the other checks) -

1) Make sure that you are using updated version of office.
2) repair you office from the control panel.
A) right click on windows button.
B) Select MS office product and click on modify and if you don't see anything click on the three dots.
C) Then you will see option to repair, click on it follow the instruction.
3) Ensure that Office Software Protection Platform is running - go to windows search bar, and search "services" if it stopped then starts it.
4) uninstall and reinstall Office.

we have tried most of the above, reinstalling office does work for about a week before it happens again, and its happening on hundreds of pcs since the upgrade
