Office Pro Plus 2021

Does anyone know what happens to the Office Pro Plus 2021 installation is I upgrade from Windows 10 (yes, I have a Win 10 laptop) to Windows 11? I guess if I do an upgrade then I have nothing to worry about, it keeps the programs, but what if I do a clean install? Is it treated as a new computer, even if it's the same computer?

You can move MS Office around systems as long as you only use it on one system at a time.

yes, but what do I need to do in practice? I suppose a clean install will not preserve programs, so I will have to download and install Office. How will I get the license then, just login into the Microsoft account?

Just go to your MSAccount, find the entry for your MSOffice & download it from there.

All depends on where you get the key from and what type of key it actually is. Not everything is always as it seems with Keys sold outside of Microsoft.
Buying outside of Microsoft, you (usually) need to look for a “Bind Key” for it to link to your online account.

How much did the key cost and where did you get it?

It’s not unheard of with cheap keys, that Office can reject the key upon reinstallation of Office 2021. I am not saying it’s always but it’s common.

For future reference (unless you bought this key/license directly from Microsoft)

Anyone can place “Microsoft Partner” on their website and sell a key. Quite often these keys are Volume Licensing Keys re-sold over and over again. Eventually Microsoft blacklists these keys due to the detection of multiple installs, resulting in the key being rejected on reinstall of Office.
This is common with Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2021.
There are also keys out there that use to be referred to as “Scrap Keys” that’s another story.

If you find that you have no choice but to buy a new key, get it from “Stack Social” They are a valid Microsoft Partner and the keys I have bought from there do show in a Microsoft Account.

Stack Social often run deals which are good to grab. I don’t know of any at the moment, z3r010 usually has the scoop on these.
Plus if you’re a first time buyer from Stack Social they offer a decent discount of 15%.

Well, I bought my Office from the University. But it came without a key, the key was already programmed into the installer, I forgot what it's called.
