Hi.
I used one drive so that I could work between PC and Laptop. I wasnt happy with it and was able to uninstall it from my PC. I believe than I have uninstalled it from my laptop , (there is no evidence of it in apps or file explorer) but a onedrive folder still remains in my user folder containing a second documents folder. When I save to docs, new files appear here.
I can manually place files in correct folder, but the shortcut is hit and miss, following two different paths. I hope the screen shots explain. What I want is one shortcut on my desktop that will always take the correct path. Would appreciate any fixes.
Thank you

Hi,
I would modify the string value of Personal subkey using Regedit in:
Modify other subkeys to match the chosen path.

Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

As always, trigger a restore point/backup prior to modifying the reg.
An Explorer restart or signing out is required for the changes to take place.

Hello Demby, :alien:

If you like, you can use option three in the tutorials below for any folder you need to restore the default location for. It'll make it a lot easier to do so with a BAT file.

Hi
Thanks to Brink for helpful guidance. I ran the BAT file so my documents shortcut on desk top takes me to where I expected , and the "save to" command puts files in the same place. Bizarrely, it also copies file to the second documents folder in the Onedrive folder. I cannot unlink as suggested because I no longer have one drive one my laptop. It doesnt seem to be causing a problem but I would rather be rid. I cannot, uninstall, delete or otherwise dispose of it

If you like, you could temporarily reinstall OneDrive, and sign in to it with your Microsoft account.

Afterwards, turn off backing up the folders to OneDrive.

Once everything checks out ok, you can uninstall OneDrive again.

Thanks again Brink
I ran everything as described. After I had uninstalled OneDrive again, the folder was still there with an empty pictures folder inside. No matter what I do, it remains. Clicking delete tends to make it disappear, but it reappears when I revisit the page. but now nothing is saved to it so its doing no harm. Maybe a win folder that cannot delete even as an administrator.
Thanks again

Do you have OneDrive on any other device? You would need to signout of all instances, and log into OneDrive from a browser and delete the folder there.
