There are actually 3 different versions in 3 different locations, the one in ProgramFiles is the last one. Not sure why 24H2 has not already installed the latest one by default, you have to try to unlock Personal Vault to force it to install.

I've uninstalled the UWP OneDrive app that was last updated in April. The desktop app Microsoft OneDrive that was updated a week and a half ago is still opening, but with the same problem.

I just tried installing OneDrive using the link from the page you provided above. But I'm getting the message that a newer version of OneDrive is installed and that I need to uninstall it to go back to the older version.

The installer is:
Version: v24.211.1020.1
Release Date: October 22, 2024

As you can see in my previous post, I have a newer version installed.
Maybe I need to go back to that older version.

I took the sledge hammer approach and deleted everything from the OneDrive cloud, then uninstalled OneDrive with Revo Uninstaller.
I then installed OneDrive 64-bit using the link provided by @TairikuOkami below.

This is the first time that I can remember installing OneDrive manually, as I think it usually comes preinstalled with Windows.
But for some reason, I had at least two different versions on my computer.

I'm uploading everything again now. 😣⏰

Had you tried just unlinking your local client, and reconnecting and just leave the stuff in the cloud? I keep more in the cloud than I do on my local machine.

Even removing the embedded OneDrive with Revo still leaves the original left to be able to reinstall.

The OneDrive processing changes issue is fixed with no more activity happening with the tray icon.
The only minor issue I still have is if open the OneDrive folder, there is one folder that still has the sync icon even though all syncing is complete.

I'm just wondering whether OneDrive is confused due to the fact that this particular folder is a junction.

Yes, OneDrive has it's shortcomings. I need to be able to backup more than just the default system folders.
I don't keep any of my data on the system drive. I see it as a risk. All my computers have at least a secondary internal drive, and some have a tertiary one, and this is where I prefer to store my data.

I've been using junctions for years without a problem, and if the only problem that it has now is just the OneDrive folder Status icon, then I can live with that.

I've been using OneDrive since it was SkyDrive and I've always kept all my data and photos in my OneDrive folder. I just don't keep financial data or personal data in OneDrive.

I have hundreds of folders in my OneDrive. For example, I have a trading folder where I keep all my trades along with trade charts for trading analysis. I keep all my lightroom/photoshop data in their own folders. I can transparently move to any computer and continue trading or photo editing. I love OneDrive!

I also run OneDrive with "Files On Demand" turned OFF so that when I do a Macrium Reflect image, I'm also getting everything in OneDrive saved in my image.

I keep all my lightroom/photoshop data in their own folders. I can transparently move to any computer and continue trading or photo editing. I love OneDrive!

I also run OneDrive with "Files On Demand" turned OFF so that when I do a Macrium Reflect image, I'm also getting everything in OneDrive saved in my image.

Yes, totally agree about FOD. I ALWAYS keep a local copy of my files so they can be backed up with Macrium and other sync apps
