Hi, I want to continue using OneDrive to sync and backup my files, but I do not want the green checkmark showing on my icons at all. How can i remove this?
The different onedrive symbols indicate the status of the onedrive file.
When you open an online-only file, it downloads to your device and becomes a locally available file indicated by the green check. You can open a locally available file anytime, even without Internet access. You can change the file back to online only which will change it's icon to a white cloud outlined in blue. Just right-click the file and select "Free up space."
Files that you mark as "Always keep on this device" have the green circle with the white check mark.
You can hide sync status icons in the navigation pane thru folder options but AFIK , there isn’t a way to globally disable sync status icons in File Explorer if you use OneDrive. The overlays are part of how OneDrive communicates file availability to/from your PC..
