You found a way to remove the multiple line paste warnings yet
Plus closing multiple tabs warning in terminal ?

These two are really annoying to keep having to click past.

Hi,
I had to reinstall terminal on all three systems so far
One was accidentally uninstalled
Other two couldn't get to settings inside terminal got json read error so just uninstalled and reinstalled from store and that was fixed.

The paste line error is the weird one seeing power shell or cmd don't do it
MS integrated to much browser mess into terminal and as you say no setting to control it.
Just a simple check box to not show again would suffice.

With "multiLinePasteWarning": false, and "largePasteWarning": false, settings ( see links below), it is possible to get rid of the "Multi-line messsage".

ps: if you only use the first (multiLinePasteWarning), you still get a "smaller" message if the text you are pasting is greater than 5Kib.

By default, when you click on the Windows Terminal "Settings cogwheel", it throws an error but as @Brink said, you can either select Notepad as one-off's for opening the .json file type, or go to the following directory for getting access to the settings.json file (which is just a specially structured text file) and open it with Notepad.

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.WindowsTerminal_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\

I personally have associated the .json files with Notepad, and will see if it ever needs to be dis-associated for any reason, as at least for the time being it then allows me to click the "Settings cogwheel" to directly access the settings file.

One more way to do it without going through "Open With" is to to just paste this into the Powershell Terminal once (so it gets saved to History).

Notepad.exe "$Env:LOCALAPPDATA\Packages\Microsoft.WindowsTerminal_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\settings.json"

I uninstalled this "thing". One more black mark on Windows 11. Terminal seems like a beta software.

I wanted to see what on earth Azure Cloud is and put that on. The next thing I know I was automatically prompted an error message and the terminal froze, it no longer had a cursor or a tab. The error demanded that I was not connected to the internet, even worse: I wasnt able to go back and select terminal to default back to Powershell or pick CMD on restart. There was no settings or prefrences on Azure mode — you can get in but you can't get out. There is no cursor waiting for an instruction (where one could cocieveably exit by typing some command). No the terminal only wants you follow its instructions alone. The whole window is just one featureless code box of uncontrollable Azure cloud loop.

And the fact that the letters on it and the text lines are very spaced out when compared to traditional CLIs (CMD, PS...) means that I have no use for WT even superficially / aesthetically. If I need it in the future hopefully the bugs will be sorted by then. Till then it's dead bloat I can do without. Once again the classic software trumps the old one (just like Paint for example) and whatever "improvement" there may be under the hood is not worth picking the new one at the expense of the user-friendly feature rich classic equivalent application. Like someone said here (elsewhere) Windows 11 is designed as if Microsoft has decided that we have all become children or disabled or something.

Hm i've used it a load and it seems fine for me, Seems like more of an Azure Problem than a Windows terminal problem.

Reading this tutorial is the first time I was made aware of Windows Terminal (or "Terminal" in Windows 11). I honestly don't know why I would want to use it after reading the article (I even turned it on in "Settings>System>For developers>Terminal" to try it, then I turned it off again). It's much simpler and faster for me to start typing the name of the host app I want in the search bar and either run it non-elevated or to click on the "Run as administrator" link. Mind you, in no way am I a programmer. I do, however, have some experience with MS DOS from back in day before Windows, when batch files were king. Thanks to Google search, I can find examples of what I want to do and just copy-and-paste a line or a few lines into an elevated Command prompt or PowerShell window (obviously changing parameters to fit my specific situation).

Oops - spoke too soon. Running PowerShell from the Terminal Host App will run elevated commands.
