Yeah, I actually had that happen with a Palm Treo smartphone some years back (probably around 2003/4). Anyway, the one I got was faulty, so I called Palm, and the tech person had them send a replacement, which I got. About two day later I got another one. I simply kept it. Still have it to this day, in the original shipping box...

Palm-Treo.jpg

The only thing wrong with it is it's missing the battery back door. Don't remember what I did with it. Truth be told, I don't even know why I still have this. God, I hope I don't end up on Hoarders

LOL, that's a good one 🤣

Reminds me of something a salesclerk said to me once - he opined I could fall in a pile of sh*t and still come out smelling like roses. :smirk:

It was more about my knack for getting good deals on electronics. It stemmed from the fact that I got a brand new $1,000 ($999.00) dollar Pioneer VHS player for $499, because the price had dropped 200 dollars, and I'd won a 300-dollar discount coupon. This on the heels that the day before, I'd gotten an Adcom (555) amp (which I still have) for $400 dollars instead of the $600 because the original I bought was damaged and the one left was an open box item but untouched :-)

It used to chaff his ass that I always got lucky like that. This was when I was stationed overseas and shopping the local base exchange at which he worked, and always seemed to be on duty when I found such deals.

God, I hope I don't end up on Hoarders
I know I won't end up as one.
I make sure I sell or dispose/donate things I don't use anymore while they still have value and usable. Otherwise, they are just garbage and invading my space. 😊

I don't keep old mobos with CPUs, I give them to my friends as upgrade for their PCs. And I even do it for them for free.

I just happen to find this photo of the two Kanto YU6 systems that was sent to me twice by mistake to replace the broken Kanto YU5 (at the bottom of the 2 boxes).
I was actually able to make the YU5 work and sold them as well. Kanto did not ask me to ship it back to them.

It's not only Amazon.
My old Kanto YU5 speaker system suddenly stopped working 4 years ago. I sent an email to Kanto for warranty claim. Unfortunately at the time, Kanto YU5 was already discontinued. So they sent me an upgrade. After a few days, I received a brand new Kanto YU6 system. Sweet!
But a week after, it was even sweeter, I received a second Kanto YU6 system. Since it is heavy and bulky, I didn't even bother think of returning it. I just kept for a month waiting for Kanto to ask for it back. But I didn't hear anything from them. After about 2 months, I sold it to a friend. 😅

The only thing wrong with it is it's missing the battery back door. Don't remember what I did with it. Truth be told, I don't even know why I still have this. God, I hope I don't end up on Hoarders

My mom had the same happen when she bought an older phone.

She and my father each ordered a Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge plus from Best Buy, his arrived in days, hers never arrived. She contacted BB and they obliged with another one.

A couple weeks later the original showed up. She contacted BB online and they said she would have to return it in store. She took it to the store and they said they could find no record of the sale, and thus could not return it.

She kept it, and then ended up giving it to my sister, for whom I re-flashed the system firmware to be AT&T compatible (folks are on VZW) and all three used those devices until the S10s came out.

The really funny part was when the BB in store employee could not find the order at all, and yet the IMEI was not listed as stolen, either, and he was so confused as what to do next.

My latest:

Subscribing to their newsletter granted me a coupon for $19.99 off. It arrived yesterday, and I've fitted it today.

It works well, and the links are individually powder coated (I think they're pc, if not just painted). They included a link removal tool that looks 3D printed, but worked like a charm. The all black finish melds well with the GPW.

My wife insisted I buy this as an upgrade to my current wedding band. Six rubies set in a white gold band.

Cables for my CD Player to be connected to my DAC...

Cables.jpg

I'll be testing both pairs, though I'm highly likely to keep the more expensive digital coaxial cable. Just really curious to see how the RCA stereo cable sounds from CD player to DAC.
