No kidding, hardware is obsolete by the time it’s delivered. Very frustrating. Especially Video Cards.
My next build, I plan on walking in and saying “Supply me with the lastest and greatest component's, I want it to be future proof!”

In a round about way, Bourbon is kind of a specific type of whiskey.

Yeah, it's called Bourbon Whiskey, but Bourbon tastes and is made so differently compared to other "normal" whiskeys that I don't like to even mention that part of the name.

It's all good as long as you mention the name Bourbon and not just say Whiskey.

BTW, is that order from CD Japan? I shop there as well.

I buy digital audio (preferably DRM free), to save physical space...I used to hoard CDs too. But moving a few times and simply just running out of space changed that for me.

I buy physical media because I like to collect; and because I collect, I don't live in tight quarters. That's me.

Yeah, it's just that I recognized the point system.

Anyway, I only order for stuff I can't get in the sates at a minimum 4 CDs to justify the shipping costs. I'm in the U.S. so shipping can cost more than even two CDs (depending on CD price).

Lots of people (me included) in music forums recommend them as their prices are very reasonable; though it's the shipping fees that kill you, and why it pays to buy in bulk.

I'm glad to see other physical CDs collector!
Seeing these posts, you got some SACDs huh. I'd personally get those if I had the way to play them as SACDs. But then, I shouldn't speak too much because I got a Laserdisc simply because it's a rare item from my favorite Japanese rock band.

Otherwise, digital media-wise, the only gimmick format I have is a SHM-CD (no matter how view it, it's just a regular CD) of this release from Stratovarius.

I also rip and scan all the CDs I get. Depending on time I get, I got to my work place to use their professional 5000$CAD large-format scanner (Epson Expression 12000XL) and make 1200 dpi scans (it takes a long time). Otherwise, I do that at home at 400dpi and that's more than enough (please note that the printing happen at 300dpi).

Usually, I do as well. But I didn't think I'd have anything to order on CDJapan for a while now. The disc was literally just released yesterday and that there was only "3 left in stock" and FOMO got to me. lol

I usually buy via Dejapan because of my CDs need forwarding. Yes, you'd think that Japan would open up more to international e-commerce but nope... Also lots of copyright BS happening as well.

Everybody that know me online know that I'm a huge eurobeat buff and most of it is made in Italy and sold in Japan or made in Japan itself. Don't get me wrong, there are some creators that make eurobeat outside Japan and Italy but that's where the main market is (Japan that is). We call (at least I do) eurobeat made in Italy for Japan "Traditional eurobeat". They've been doing so since 1990. The series "Super Eurobeat" is the longest CD series in the world after all. A shame they stopped at Vol. 250. Fun fact for everybody: eurobeat is an evolution of a mixture of italo-disco and Hi-NRG. The Japanese already called italo-disco and italo-disco/hi-nrg "eurobeat" even before the formula was a thing (it's a european dance beat). The mixture got popular, the music sped up (from 115-125 BPM to 145-170 BPM) and the term stuck to describe the genre. Could talk more about it but I'll stop here.

The SACDs I buy are "hybrid" so they also play on standard CDs player as I don't have an SACD player. And I buy those Mo-Fi SACDs cause I love the packaging of them - Paper sleeved mini-LPs. And that Santana cause I wanted that package. Plus they're collector items.

I have quite a few "Japanese audiophile" CDs in SHM, Blu-Spec, and Japanese pressings. Also, audiophile CDs in XRCD, Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs (Mo-Fi), DCC, and others including Sheffield Labs. Also starting to get into the UHQCDs.

I just rip with dBpoweramp (uncompressed FLAC), and it gathers the artwork for me, so no need to scan images. The artwork is 430 x 430, though I choose 1000 x 1000. That's large enough for me.

All my rips are on my NAS, which also supports Plex so I can stream anywhere, including to my car from my phone using Plexamp. For local playback, I use JRiver Media Center.

Anyway, we have a thread here AUDIRVĀNA (and other audio related chitchat) for such discussions, but it isn't too active, so I mainly post at the Head-Fi Forums. I'm currently here, but I'm in other forums there as well. Would love to see you in one.

You may have to sift through his stuff, but I believe my brother does some eurobeat based tracks. I know he has some influence from 80’s beats. I am not 100% sure I understand what eurobeat is, although I was active in the 80’s, one of my fav era’s However my music was nowhere related to any dance beat, euro or otherwise.

Well, my rocket engines came today....
(rocket is 47" tall)



Almost ready to fly. Some final touch-ups needed.

I got the F15-4 engines, so I wouldn't have to chase this sucker too far. The rocket comes down by parachute
and can drift for quite a distance, especially at higher altitudes.




The "general" Model Rocketry Technical Manual from the 70's...
Really, the only difference today, is bigger rockets and bigger engines.
This one I'm building uses F and G engines, and is classed as "Mid-power".
I also uploaded the SA-14 Archer building instructions, in case anyone is bored.

Although I realize you're joking, there are quite a few accessories you can get for these rockets.

Things that will "fly" with the rocket...

1. An RF locator so you can find the rocket
2. An altimeter, so you can know how high it went.
3. An altimeter/parachute ejector (if you want to manually control chute ejection)
4. Still and/or video camera, that straps on rocket side, or goes into the payload section)

Accessories...



This, by the way, is the most expensive mid-power rocket (F & G engines), they sell...

And here are the high-power rockets (I engines and above), (certification required)...

That would be very cool. You wouldn’t get much effect pointing upwards, but pointing at the ground would look very cool as it ascends.
