'Bout 10 years ago I actually typed all my logins and passwords on paper on a manual typewriter cuz I was paranoid Windows was logging my keystrokes!!! :lmao:

A couple of challenges to using a paper PM (extreme examples):

1. It should be taken with you when traveling for business or pleasure, and should be kept with you wherever you go. Do not leave it in your hotel room.

2. Emergency at home due to fire or water with paper damaged.

The recovery of accounts is possible if credentials are lost, but inconvenient.

I use KeePass 2 to keep my password local and Dashlane for auto logins. I have seen where some people use a tablet to save their passwords. I was referring to how they could use a printed copy of their passwords and still be able to use copy and paste while keeping their passwords off of their computers.

And if you are worried about keeping your ElevenForum credentials in an online password manager then there are some bigger issues at work.

I'm so sorry to hear you lost your husband. I can't imagine how hard it would be to go on if I lost my wife. The one thing I do know is that if i went first I would be in a personal hell. Because of her mental health she really depends on me. If something happened to me, it would go to our only son. He is more like his mother, and I don't know if he could handle it.

I delight in asking people about what they do to see if I can learn something from them and improve the things I do. Just because someone says something, it doesn't mean I have to accept them. And I certainly don't like to blindly assume or take things for granted. Every risk I have stated here as well as elsewhere is real. It is upto the individual to become aware (if not already) or ignore it. You can support corporations as much as you want like lobbyists do, but it won't work eventually.

The basics (using long and complex passwords, using per site passwords, regularly updating passwords, using 2FA) ought to be adequate security for most of us.

Note that site security is beyond our control (sites can be hacked)

Beyond the basics, it's really personal preference (or special needs)

I dont really store things anywhere, Any passwords i have for anything i can remember off my head. I work for a Bank so thankfully security etc and do's and don'ts are pretty well ingrained by this point xD
Im no one and im really not that exciting :) Who wants my crap xD

I was thinking this. If the log-in website has a hidden script or if a server somewhere with your stored creds is hacked, does it matter how well you stored or carefully entered your creds? You still have to transfer the info from your paper / txt file / encryption software to the web page.
I ask because I've never used a password protection program, so I don't know how they necessarily protect my log-in info.

I write my passwords on paper.. the only way it can become compromised if someone breaks into my home and steals it.. but I think they would want the PC and TV more

Which banks force you to change passwords? Here in the UK the banks I use certainly don't force me to change passwords, they don't even suggest I change them after a certain period of time!! I guess a password, ID number, memorable phrase and biometric login is good enough for them...

What changed your mind?

Keepass 2 is perfectly fine for my needs. I don't want to be paranoid. Otherwise I would question whether my browser is spying on me, whether my ISP is listening in, whether the end to end encryption is what it's said to be, whether a hacker at the other end is reading my password etc. etc.

I have some friends that won’t even use online/phone app banking, because they are worried about it. I use both, because if there’s a withdrawal over $25, or credit card charges over $25.00 my bank shoots me a text immediately. Whereas if you don’t bank online, you have to depend on your bank to call you, or wait till you get your next statement at the end of the month to see if anyone is hacked your account.
