Yeah I know the user manual is poor as can be lol, it's a case with some flaws, but guess works ok

If it matters much any--Local shop completely removed Thermaltake Cases from there Shop Price list lol--used to have V250, V200, and another Thermaltake Case series

Now list Corasir 4000D Airflow lol and a few others

@bikemanI7 I was unaware of how restricted your front air intake was. Just tiny holes running up one side of the front panel that are partially blocked by the clips that secure the front panel to the case. It's no wonder your gear runs hot. Might be why your local shop stopped selling them.

For comparison purposes, here's how my Antec DP502 F-LUX case was designed. My case has 7 case fans plus 2 on the cooler so 9 total.

If that's really a clear glass panel in the front, and the three RGB fans only draw air through the small vents on the front, that's not a great airflow design.

I'm on my first Lian Li case (011 Dynamic Evo). The main thing I miss with it is that it did not include a fan hub. Seems like a fairly serious omission in a case that can hold ten 120mm fans. :eyeroll:

Thats actually plastic lookalike glass in front panel in front of the 3 Intake fans (doesn't feel like real glass, unlike side panel lol)

Theres a small opening at the bottom of the front cover, and the side vents that its suppose to draw in from lol

If i knew this case was this restrictive on purchase, i would've passed on purchasing it lol

I'm not sure it's terrible.

Corsair still sells the 5000D, with a solid front panel. (The air in front sneaks around the sides of the panel.) It may pass air more freely than your Thermaltake model, but Corsair's 5000D Airflow model is probably better.

Yeah might end up getting hardware transferred to a better case before the video card purchase, either 4000D Airflow or Corasir 5000D Airflow one or the other thinking more so now lol.

I'd do it myself hardware transfer, but these days i bothered by other family members so much or told i can't do it myself, and then end up just giving in and letting shop do the work

The time i did it in 2009, i had a Full ATX motherboard, and Full ATX case, and family members was gone, and i had few hours of peace and quiet lol, these days no peace and quiet sadly

I thought that Thermaltake might offer an optional mesh front for the case, but I haven't found one.

Too bad. That would have been a much easier upgrade than a full case swap.

I shudder at the cost of having a shop do the rebuild, but maybe I'm being too pessimistic.

Too noisy IMO (and much louder than the 120mm version of it). To be fair, the Noctua fan that I linked is not THE most silent either, but like I already tried to point out, there's also the reliability factor to be considered (also IMO), and the performance/noise ratio of the Noctua is still very good.

The whole idea of adding fans in the top is because hot air rises up. So they're meant to blow up, which helps to keep out the dust. Covering the top fans with the PC powered off also helps.

Well the PC itself is rarely ever powered off, as typically i'm always doing something on it, whether it's gaming, backup at end of the week, light video tasks, like encoding a little at times. Usually powered off once a month for cleaning with my Electric Air Duster whether i use the Powered A2 Electric Air Duster or My Cordless one, depending on what i'm in the mood to use for that month

Noctua NH-U12A or NH-D15 i didn't think would fit into my case, as Max CPU Cooler Height is 160MM

This would be my first ever case with top fans once i do get them added, i can check out Noctua 140mm case fans, and buy those when i can and go from there i guess, and guess just save my Scythe case fan for another purpose some time, too late to return it now, bought it many months ago.

The reason why looking at power draw is compulsory is because 1/ it's the only way to try to envision how much cooling you will need to still be able to keep all the fan noise down and 2/ performance and durability starts to take a hit if letting it run constantly hot (which can happen especially when the weather gets hot so the temp in your room starts to rise). The only thing in a PC that is designed to run at almost boiling temp is the GPU. Modern CPUs from Intel can draw more power than the TDP. (Even, if you don't overclock.) The truth is that a modern i7 ('k' model) can draw more than 250W under heavy load with just a modest OC. It mainly is why some people buy custom loop water (and to keep the noise down lower still and, as another bonus, it also looks cool). A quick rule of thumb with modern Intel Core CPUs is to get a CPU cooler with a cooling capacity of at least double the TDP of the CPU. (With the i9-13900K, at least triple.)

The height of the NH-U12A is 158 mm.

That's not really an omission IMO. It's so you can grab the controller that suits all your needs, so no money gets spent on an already included one that probably doesn't or that might be unnecessary if the plan is to reuse one from another build. It's perfectly in line with builder philosopy style of products keeping more custom choice options open.

I don't understand complaints about the noise of the Scythe fan. At 1800 RPM, it's rated at 100 CFM and 26.45 dBA.

Noctua doesn't have an exact match. Their NF-A14 industrial ppc 2000 PWM does 107.4CFM (182.5 m3/hr) at 31.5 dBA. Another 140mm fan with 1500 RPM max fan moves 82.5 CFM at 24.6 dBA.

No fan I've ever chosen was quiet at maximum RPM. The fan controller is set so the fans aren't run at max unless necessary (which is rare).

I suggest studying and comparing specs when possible. Don't take any free advice here as absolute. Including mine.

Well at this point will make final decision once i have the money ready (whenever tax return arrives) to order 140mm fans for the top of this case. Video card upgrade gonna hold off on til have a better cooling case in the future/if i don't end up with a full platform upgrade in the future (will see on that)

for now just try to keep room as cool as i can, and go from there

Have you looked at the FD mesh cases? The fractal design Meshify 2 cases ( standard ATX and Extended ATX) have really good airflow and configuration flexibility. Mine with an aio cooler runs 1c above ambient at idle and very good at heavy loads (I have a 10900k overclocked to 5.2 GHz all-cores). Besides the 360 aio configured to pull air in from the front of the case, I only have one 140mm case fan for rear exhaust.

Haven't looked at Fractal Design cases much for my Micro ATX Based system, but i'm sure Meshify 2 Would support this board fine, and I'd have plenty of Airflow and Filters probably for Front Intake, and Power Supply

Will check those out more

There are many cases worth considering.

I wanted one with a front USB 3.2 Gen2 port (to use with an existing motherboard header), and a slot for a 5.25" optical drive. I ended up losing the optical drive. (I moved the internal drive to an external enclosure. I wanted to keep it, because it's a BD drive that can read UHD movie disks.)

Looks like you current B460 motherboard lacks the USB 3.2 Gen2 header.

Yeah this Motherboard lacks ARGB Header, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Header, I'm lucky it has USB 3.2 Gen 1 Header lol, and no USB Type C on this board either lol
