Sorry about all the pics on above post . I know you know how to use command. I just copied and pasted from the page I was on. :)
Hope it helps instead of messing things up.
The pics aren't a problem but the process is. This command disables all keyboard input. One cannot even log into the computer let alone undo the command. I am waiting as my computer resets, hopefully back into windows 11. I don't recommend this process.

The laptop I am using now (Acer Aspire 317-52) shuts down the integral keyboard If the PS-2 keyboard driver is installed. I do not use an outboard keyboard. I delete the driver but it returns every couple of days. I don't remember it doing this before it upgraded to win 11. It is getting pesky. Does anyone have a solution to fix the problem?

Since it is a laptop that is why I bolded "not sure if you should do this though". I am sorry you are needing to reset. Can you hook in a usb keyboard to use instead?

Have you tried to replace the keyboard driver with a generic PS/2 keyboard driver? See my previous replies.
I'm not sure what a generic keyboard driver is. The current i8042 keyboard driver hasn't changed since 2006 when it was written. Acer doesn't have a replacement for it. Any ps2 keyboard driver I have found is the i8042.

All is well. The reset brought me back to windows 11 and all my files are there. I will need to do some configuration here or there but there was no serious harm done. Perhaps this process is OK for a desktop system. I wouldn't recommend it for a laptop - at least not my laptop. I think we are dealing with a Win 11 bug since the problem didn't occur when this computer was running 10.

See Device Manager in the Keyboards section. If you see any weird device description, change the driver so it reads "Standard PS/2 Keyboard". It should then work.

Also try disabling filter keys if you have not tried this yet.
Right-click on Windows 11 Start menu and select Settings.
In the Settings app, select Accessibility from the left pane.
Now, take your cursor on the right side of the page and scroll down till you find the Keyboard tab.
On the Keyboard page, you will find both Sticky keys and Filter keys tabs. Turn off the buttons next to these tabs to disable both of these features.
If you click on the Sticky keys and Filter keys tabs, you will see different options, like keyboard shortcuts for both of these keys, a beep sound when these keys are pressed, etc. If you want, you can also turn off these options.

There are some suggestions on this page ,but maybe you have tried all of this.

To reiterate the OP, yes all the keyboards work. The problem is that, when the PS2 driver is active, then the integral keyboard doesn't work. I can uninstall the PS2 driver and then the integral keyboard works just fine until the computer sleeps or reboots. At that point Windows reloads the PS2 keyboard driver and we are back to square one. Perhaps the problem is in the computer's firmware instead of Windows. I will try contacting Acer to see if they have a solution.

That is a good idea. As you are on a laptop they may be able to help you better. Good luck.

Probably the driver that keeps installing is specific to some model. Expand keyboard section in Device Manager to see. Right-click on it, select update drivers, choose the second option and again the second option. Select Standard PS/2 keyboard from the list and click next, next, until you close all windows.

Oddly the problem is now resolved. How? Well I did a process that removed all the keyboard input. The only way I could get into my computer was with a reset. It required some work to get things back to normal after that but the keyboard driver problem went away. Go figure.

I just registered to comment on this as this is pretty much the only thread I can find on this issue.... I had a user who's Dell XPS laptop went from Win 10 to 11 automatically and this same issue occurred - onboard keyboard would not work and the "Standard PS/2 keyboard" item in Device Manager had a Code 12 error on it. I fixed it by doing what someone else suggested earlier:
Not automatically, select the second option and again the second option and you should see a list of compatible devices.
This caused the driver to be properly re-installed and after that the error in Device Manager disappeared and the keyboard started working again instantly without a reboot. Note that the "Standard PS/2 Keyboard" item was disabled when I tried it though - that had not fixed the problem though.
