Solved Phone Link question

I discovered Phone Link yesterday and finding it really useful. I have set it NOT to startup with Windows 11, but only when I click on the pinned icon on the start menu.

All is working perfectly. But when I close the Phone Link, it still runs in the background. I continue to have a notification on my phone telling me it is still connected. I have to reboot to remove the notification.

Checking Task Manager, the following 3 items are still running.



Is there anything in setting anywhere to make Phone Link close completely when I click on the 'X' to save me rebooting every time I finish with it?

If not, maybe a kill task batch file script. How would I go about that?

Press Win + I to open Settings. Next, go to Apps and search for Phone Link. Select Phone Link and then click Advanced options. Next, toggle the Background apps switch under Apps permission to stop Phone Link from running in the background.

Did that fix stop Phone Link running in the background?

That is true for the first part.
As far as the second part, you have not yet seen me in person.... Some people would consider you lucky.

I go to settings, click on Apps and then picking Advanced Options. Doing a search doesn't bring up much. I get a list of apps like add remove programs. I tried searching for 'background apps' or App permissions, but doesn't bring anything up.

Phone link is now in System Components.
So Settings/System/ scroll down to System Components/Phone Link. But that will not help you one bit.

You can shut it down for good by going to the taskbar tray. (left of taskbar where an up-arrow is)
Look for the icon, right click, Quit.

I eventually found that before seeing your post and you are right, it doesn't close it down. But using the Taskbar icon as you described does close it down completely. Well done!

Well… even with the correct location of the app that @OAT provided, there was nothing I could see that was any different to that of what was in the Phone Link settings, which was to toggle off Phone Link starting when Windows started. I double checked the Startup Apps, it was certainly off.
Rebooting, Phone Link started.
As far as I could see, I was able to repair it, or reset it, resetting meaning it would wipe any phone details from the App. So I decided to Reset. I think I’ll go with Johns OATs recommendation and use Intel Unison.
