Windows 11 Home (x64) Version 22H2 (build 22622.436) With this version of WIN 11 the Photo APP closes and/or crashes whenever I try and open it. I have uninstalled & reinstalled the APP, tried repair/reset but when I try and open the APP it disappears after several seconds. All Windows updates have been installed and I have run the troubleshooter. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. If I use explorer and open a PIC it looks like this. Also if I click on the 3 ... and try and open settings it also crashes after a couple of seconds.

How do you launch the App usually? Do you click on a photo to launch it, or do you launch it from Start Menu? If you could try launching the App a different way, does it succeed in launching?

I really appreciate your response as it seems like a MSFT bug and not something wrong with my new laptop. Thanks and have a great day!

I guess that "might" depend on the build. I'm running Windows 11 Pro RTM (21H2, build 22000.795) on my desktop, and my laptop is running Insider's Dev channel (22H2, build 25158.1000) and the Photo's app works under both without issue.

With that, I don't have a clue as to why your issue, but I do have a question - how new is your new laptop? And if it's new enough to have come with Windows 11, why is it now running an insiders version -
Windows 11 Home (x64) Version 22H2 (build 22622.436)
That is an insider beta build - KB5015888 Windows 11 Insider Beta Build 22621.436 and 22622.436 - July 19

Seems the common them is Version 22H2 (build 22622.436). Perhaps there is a bug in that build. Suggest you guys provide feedback to Microsoft.

Many users reported the same problem, and I had it too on 2 different machines. Also, several users have reported it continues with build 226622.440.
The problem seems to be caused by some other component not the Photos App itself. (Perhaps .NET Framework)
I fixed the problem on both machines that were failing with 22622.436 last week by doing an update/repair in place with the ISO 22622.436 downloaded from uup-dump.net. I also downloaded ISO 22622.440 and tested it on a third failing box.
Note that machines upgraded directly with W.U. from 22000.832 to 22622.436 or 33633.440 do not have that bug.
Some of the intermediate updates from 22621.1 up to 22622.440 is the cause of the problem, some users already reported the problem at 22622.290.

Note that the version of the App is still the same when it works after the update/repair in place with ISO.

When I use Windows Terminal (admin) PowerShell to remove an app I always reboot before re-installing.

Get-AppxPackage *photos* | Remove-AppxPackage

Defender complained after re-installing with 'Protected folder: %userprofile%\Pictures' which I allowed.
It might be worth the rebooting before reinstalling.
