Absolutely! I wish I'd checked mine earlier, then I'd not have needed the chemo and radio therapy. All successfully completed now - thank goodness (and the NHS).

NETPLWIZ. I have been running it off and on for a while now thanks to Brink. But there has been a cgange. When Netplwiz opens, the three accounts are untouchable, frozen. So I am at a loss what to try next? I spotted some instructions, somwehere, to open win without accounts, but lost it, still searching.

Do you mean that the checkbox is not there?
That is dealt with in Option 1, Step 3 of the NetPlWiz tutorial.

the check box has vanished yes. Op 1/3 was done successfully by me earlier this week. I lost the pin and got instert password, then somehow it changed later back to pin

Then you can use the tutorials guidance for that situation.
And then you'll be able to set up an automatic login using NetPlWiz.

I know nothing about PINs.

that double account disappeared almost as soon as I said it. The machine really is misbehaving. I went for a lie down and came down to dozens of pages of Steam, all blank, i'm going to demolish it I think and start again. I have a job to do first though.

I have just reinstalled Win 11 onto my pc. (twice) To avoid potential problems I did it from the cloud. I still cannot get around that damn pin number, even with instructions. So, later today (its 0225) I am headfing back to netplwiz and try again.

I think I'll call it quits after this post. After ages trying everything I could find, I created another account today, logged in locally, and began building it up. Using a fictitious name. I restarted and it came up on the 'false me'. Then I shut down and re started. It opened on the same account without the pin.

Netplwiz continues to ;refuse' to do anything.

Please elaborate.
If you explain what is and isn't happening as you work through NetPlWiz using the tutorial procedure then somebody will probably be able to help you get it done.

Try3: hi. I have tried every item in the tutorials, when I open newplwiz I get the box with the pc accounts in, and none have boxes, ticked or otherwise in, the acccounts do nothing when clicked on, and the Advanced button opens on a page with nothing on it that I can comprehend. Last night everything slowed down dramatically, waiting in some cases forgeeting what I was waiting for. I deleted that 'fake' account and went back to me pinned account. I wont waste paragraphs on what happened but I ended up reloading some software. I do realise its not armageddon if I do not get the damn pin removed, so until I do, I will carry on and keep searching and trying things out. Brinks tutorials are always excellent so when I have time, I will run through the posts/tutorials very slowly and eventually let you know. I am VERY grateful to those who have replied and tried.

In that linked Passwordless Sign-in tutorial, I always use Option 2, the Reg file. I have no choice because I do not use an MSAccount.

I just stumbled on a post by @Bree, who is highly competent, saying that switching to an MSAccount-linked user account now always includes being forced to set up a PIN.
Perhaps this is what has ensnared you.

Switching back and forth between a Local account and an MS account is something I do quite often for test purposes.

In addition, when I switch back to a Local account it asks me to set a new password for the Local account. If I set that as a blank password, then on startup it still asks for my PIN. But in Accounts > Sign-in options I cannot remove the PIN, that option is unavailable.

I have to first set a password, then I can remove the PIN, and then I can set the password back to a blank one.

Thank you Try and Bree. I am going to have to rerlunctantly accept using the pin. I did, as an experiment, create another account under a fictitious name, and it worked, I could log in without any pass/pin. I deleted it but might try again to use for the odd game or whatever.
