I, too, have a wifi 6 wireless adapter, but for reliability I normally use my wired ethernet. When comparing the speed tests of the 2 connections, the speed is almost exactly the same,
so I can not answer why , with your computer, that is not the case.

See post #12. Apparently the router can only connect at 100 mbps on the ethernet side.

Because of the specs of the router! The router only has fast ethernet ports - 100 mbps maximum. The router has N300 WiFi - 300 mbps. Everything is behaving exactly as it should! And it makes zero difference if the OP connects via ethernet or WiFi because their internet connection is only 10 mbps and they have only one computer on the network.

Agreed. I use 2 types of Wireless in my setup, one is the PoE Wireless DSL modem that gives me 25Mbps Internet connection and the other is the Wireless/Wi-Fi between computers and the Router, some are 802.11n and 3 newest have 802.11ac. The Router is a Netgear Nighthawk AC2600 R7450 Gigabit. I have 5 wired computers, 2 wired NAS drives, 2 Wired printers and 2 or more Wi-Fi Notebooks. The CAT5 Ethernet cables in use have been in place for 20+ years but the longest is only about 30 feet. No matter which computer I'm on Ookla still reports my Internet speed as between 23.x and 26.x Mbps so my internal network is doing great and I'm getting the full Internet speed I'm paying for.

We've all been throwing router specs and adapter specs at the OP when it finally sunk in on me what I believe is causing his confusion....and mine in reading all this. (Sometimes, I'm slow and don't see the forest for the trees) He's not running speed tests to see what speed he is actually getting through his adapters. All he's doing is pulling up the properties of each of his adapters.
@jraju Your wireless speed IS NOT running at 300mbps. Properties gives you info on the maximum capability of your PC hardware and nothing more. Run speed tests per post #7 if you want to see actual performance differences.

Please don't add confusion. What @jraju is seeing is the link speed for the network. He connects to ethernet with a link speed of 100 mbps. It is not gigabit (1000 mbps) because the router he is connected to is only capable of 100 mbps ethernet.

He connects to WiFi with a link speed of 300 mbps. The WiFi link speed is 300 mbps again limited by the router because it only has N300 WiFi capability.

The wireless speed IS MOST CERTAINLY connected at 300 mbps which is the maximum that the router is capable of.

and what contract basis your on... UP/Down speeds

Excuse me? The OP's responses indicate to me he thinks the speed he's actually working with using wireless is 300 mbps. (reading exactly 300 mbps. I don't think so) I was only pointing out that if he had never run an actual speed test he has no way of knowing which connection was actually running faster because without a speed test there can be no comparison. I was also pointing out that if he is doing no more than looking in properties that does not tell him what his actual working speeds are.
He stated his ISP provides up and down speed at 10 mbs using copper wires. So it's impossible for his wired or wireless connection speed to run above that.

I may have misunderstood your opening post. You stated "the adsl speed download and upload are maximum up to 10 mbps in ethernet connection." What I thought you meant was that the internet plan that you were paying for was capped at 10 mbps.

There are 4 speeds involved in your network.

1. The speed of the internet provided by the ISP (BSNL). The physical maximum speed of your ADSL connection is 24 mbps download and 3.3 mbps upload (with Annex M, if it is offered). That is the physical limit of ADSL. You may be paying for less speed from BSNL. We don't know what plan you are paying for or what it's speed limits are.

2. The speed that your modem is capable of. If you are using the Dlink 2750 U as your modem also, it has the capability of using the full ADSL speed shown above. Modem speed is more of an issue when using broadband cable connection. Some older modems on broadband cable have a lower speed capability than the ISP is providing (it's called channel bonding).

3. The ethernet link speed. In your post #1 when you said you were getting 10 mbps in ethernet up and down, that does sound like a link speed and that would be a problem. When you said you went from Cat 5 to Cat 6 your speed went up. That indicates you had a bad ethernet cable. You have a maximum ethernet speed of 100 mbps (up and down) and that is limited by your router on your network. Cat 5 cable should easily carry 100 mbs (fast) ethernet. However, your internet speed is going to be limited by the ADSL limits posted above.

4. The WiFi link speed. Your WiFi is limited to 300 mbps again by your router. It seems like you never had a problem with WiFi. Again, though, your internet speed is still limited by the ADSL limits posted above.

You asked about enabling annex L and M - that depends upon if BSNL offers it. From what I have read, Annex L will extend the range or distance that you can get the full 24 mbps speed from ADSL. Annex M only increases the upload speed from 1.4 mbps to 3.3 mbps but has no affect on download speed. The question about annex L and M is best directed to BSNL.

In regard to whether to use Ethernet or WiFi, if you have just one computer connected and are not using your network to connect 2 or more computers to each other, it does not matter if you use your ethernet connection or WiFi connection. Both ethernet and WiFi speeds are greater than the capability of the ADSL internet connection.

In any home network, the lowest speed on the network should be #1 above - the speed of internet provided by the ISP, and this is true for your network now.

I hope that cleared things up for you (and others).
