Pleasent arrangement/appearance of desktop icons

I know right, I do like a few rainmeter skins on my desktop though with the time, date, and some system info.

I don't need a third party tool as I go for simple and organized. Nothing irks me more than seening desktop that has no rhyme or reason to its order. Windows 11 icons are boring, so I have taken advantage of the thousands of free icons packs on the web to give my desktop a little more flair and grouped icons according to my needs.

It's such a subjective topic.

What looks nice to A looks ugly to B ... What supports focus for C makes D losing his mind...

For me personally it was the last try to get my desktop icons arranged in a way that it not looks like someone puked on my screen. I could use special icon themes, that make them look a bit more uniform. But to be honest. Desktop icons are a pain - it's a relic from very old GUI days. And the biggest catastrophe is IMO to see people's desktops with icons on a wallppaper that looks like a picture from Where is Waldo - no matter how one thinks his icons are now setup super efficient. It looks simply bad because many people don't have a sense for dimensions, aesthetics, proportions or well chosen color arrangement. That's it.

TLDR: There is no real good way to get Desktop icons look nice - they look mostly bad and will ALWAYS interfere with the purpose of a wallpaper. Turn them off! Install rainmeter if you want and/or put your programs in the taskbar or startmenu. That's the best looking solution for me.

Very subjective!
All the replies here are valid, sensible suggestions, however...,

Aesthetics is very important to me, I consider my PC to be a portion of my furniture..., it has to look nice, be clean and well organized!

One thing I do appreciate about Windows 11 is the depreciation of live folders, (the manila folders standing on edge, half open with their contents spilling out, (used to bug me in the Music folder, though!!!))

Granted, I have, what I consider, an aesthetically pleasing icon pack installed, but...,
... one thing I cannot live without is QTTabBar Explorer Enhancement Suite, for a host of reasons, but, one little feature I must point out is the ability to create cascading folders anywhere, invoked simply upon mouse hover...

This is so true, everyone has to go with what is pleasing to their taste and eyes. I won't even put a recycle bin on the desktop, mine sits in the task bar system tray icons.

I put what I use most on the taskbar.

I'm pretty much the same. I have 5 desktop icons, I've had the same 5 icons since the XP days.
I know there's only two in this pic, but I have 4 icons pinned to the Start Menu.
Everything else is on the Taskbar.
