No, you can't please everyone, but at this point, several of the changes made are to the detriment to what I do every day. If I cannot use an OS efficiently, in fact, when it compromises my ability to teach my students, it's time to step back and take a look at where I and my students go next.

Looks to much to me like they want to go back to Windows 8 looks. I liked 10 because it was clean, simple UI, yes some things i did not like but overall 10 looks better.

Not being able to move the taskbar to top or sides is a big reason i wont use it. I prefer the option to do so. Seems yet again control over the UI is being limited and i can see the reason why. My Desktop PC is for productivity, if i want Android or Apple apps on it i will use my phone. Win 11 seems to want to appeal to tablet users more than traditional desktop users.

So i will wait and see but at the moment MS is looking and acting more and more like Apple everyday, that for me is not good and the reason i left Apple some years ago for desktop computing.

I agree with you, John. Microsoft is deprecating/removing 14 things from Windows 11, several of which I use every day. To me, that's not progress; it regression, pure and simple. Moving the taskbar to suit my needs is terrible. Removal of my ability to create and use toolbars, especially the Quick Launch Bar is just wrong!

And Edgium is just the most garsh awful mess I've ever seen. I am not in the least interested in 99% of the cra, errr, ummm, junk that hits my screen if I should open Edgium! No, thank you . . . I'll stick with Firefox.

Did MS say that being able to move the Taskbar and not being able to create and use Toolbars was going to be permanent? I'm getting use to the Taskbar being centered and I never used Toolbars so it doesn't effect me personally. I do know a lot of users do move the the location of the Taskbar and/or use Toolbars and I hope that MS doesn't make this change permanent.

User Feedback did get them to change their mind about Windows 8 and they released Windows 8.1.

Windows 11 hasn't hit main stream yet. So far only the Insiders have been using it. Our numbers are nowhere near the number of the main stream users.

I do know a lot of users do move the the location of the Taskbar and/or use Toolbars and I hope that MS doesn't make this change permanent.

  • Taskbarfunctionality is changed including:
    • People is no longer present on the Taskbar.
    • Some icons may no longer appear in the System Tray (systray) for upgraded devices including previous customizations.
    • Alignment to the bottom of the screen is the only location allowed.
    • Apps can no longer customize areas of the Taskbar.

You may not, but I'm pretty P. O.'d about not having what I need to do my daily things. Microsoft has pretty much destroyed my ability to do what I need to do with Windows 11.

If MS continues on this path, I'll be stuck on Windows 10 until I can learn Linux! Microsoft isn't the only option I have.

I don't understand what icons would not appear in the system tray?

I am due for a new PC at the end of this year, I am going to need a case of tylenol while getting it set up the way I want, probably will take months

I'm only quoting . . . not understanding all I read either.

And then, and then, and then . . . there shines the Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media icon which has been more or less obsolete in Windows 10 for some time . . . <Sigh>

I'm loving Windows 11. So far the only thing I don't like is there's no "Never Combine" option anymore for taskbar icons.
