The "pattern" I'm starting to see has more to do with the 'artificial' hardware restrictions MS placed on Windows 11 and the end of support (except for those who have paid for an extra year of course) for Windows 10 last October.

I'm hearing that graphics cards are about to increase in price as well. And I'm betting it won't stop there. Motherboards, CPU's and other hardware will probably follow.

And, the majority of people with "unsupported" hardware for Windows 11 wouldn't know how to use bypasses (which MS are slowly but surely removing) and if they wish to continue running Windows with up to date security (i.e. Windows 11) then they wouldn't have much choice except to buy new "Windows 11 supported" hardware.

I read this announcement as applying worldwide, not just the US.

I think the pattern is something like, "Hey customers are going to pay multiples of 2025 prices for RAM. We want our cut also."
