Just download any version (f.e. PowerShell-7.5.2-win-x64.msi )

and unzip it to any location using the command "msiexec" in Windows terminal.

This will take less than 2 minutes.

You are implying something I never said.
I am very well aware of what Powershell is.

As you can see from the first post, they are worried about doing something which is essentially pointless for them.

I did the $PSVersionTable and got a pop up stating this.

Not knowing what I did, but, when I rebooted the same damn pop up can in stating as in my first post. Why does MS have to be so damned awkward. If I have to insert a part of windows, they should send out a click here, like brink does.

The remark to install the latest PowerShell is generic and does not mean it is in need of an update

You should use Autoruns, like garlin suggested in post 9. You can filter on the word PowerShell, and it should show you things running PowerShell automatically.

Well this is the the latest version. It is odd that you are getting the popup still.

I did, and could not understand the piles of 'somethings'. I'll give it another, as its nearly 0200 here and I'm brain dead!

Just switched pc on, the pop up is now back at the original 5.

ran autorun and got this, added powershell to search and opened task scheduler. This does not look like yuors

thanks, did as you asked, got it listed and clicked on task scheduler; no sign of clean user - or download NRD - read each line carefully,

I did and the image says powershell4.webpge - not the name I game it. Anyway. I loaded this:

Deploy PowerShell using the MSI package

and it worked but boot up, desktop, still shows the 5.2 damned dos image.

Your task scheduler isn't going to look like mine. Your image is showing tasks that don't have PowerShell in the name, so I'm pretty sure you're not filtering on the word PowerShell. But since you posted a partial screenshot, we have no way of knowing.

one thing not mentioned. When i open aut0run, I get several exe files. MY pc is a 64; so presume open the 64 exe file

nothing i tried worked so I completely did a win 11 reinstall. So, for the moment, my pc is running good
