Hi forum,

Does anybody know how to restrict the Photos app to showing (opening) only photos (not videos)?
The Photos app shows (plays) both of them (by exploring photos and videos in a folder). It has two separate components, "Photos.DLC.MediaEngine" and "Video Editor". I think the second one has to be removed, but there is no way to uninstall just that one!

My default picture viewer is the Photos app. The default video player app is VLC.

I just change the file association for Pictures to Windows Photo Viewer and Videos to VLC/VideoLAN. Right-click a file, Open with and choose the installed program to be used and put a check in Always use this program.

The Windows Photo Viewer app support will be terminated soon!

So be brave and install the free GIMP or IrfanView. Today I installed the Corel Paint Shop Pro XI from 2006 on my Win11 Pro Desktop, seems to be fine.

I was brave enough before (I was a semi-pro user of the ACDSee app, it worked for me like mini Lightroom and is also one of the fastest photo browsing apps). I don't want to install another new app just for simple photo browsing (or simple editing like cropping and adjusting exposure).

I know new apps are just a bunch of rubbish software with acrylic UI! But it seems they are working hard (!!! :woozy:) on this one, and after any new update, it gets better and better. It needs more hammering!
